Dodgerunners ALDL cable only works on 160 baud pin E unidirectional data. No btw, you can't just wire your ECM's data to pin E and use his cable. (edit - at least that is what I believe - and no knock to Dodgerunner's cable - It is just that he is using the circuitry that works with the 160 baud pin E Fiero ECM.)
ALDLcable.com and MY ALDL (
http://reddevilriver.com/aldl.html ) cable will work on both Pin E and the bidirectional 8192 bidirectional Pin M data that your ECM puts out.
My ALDL cable however is less expensive than ALDLcable.com
The two transistor circuit on ALDLcable.com will work for you if you have a onboard serial port. People have troubles however with serial to USB adapters when using the serial cable. Some do work however some do not.
Here are some videos on how the cable works.

The .xdf definition for your ECM is only needed if you want to read/modify/burn the PROM in the ECM. It is not used at all when you are just monitoring the ECM's diagnostic output port.
---
You can see all the inputs to the ECM
Battery Voltage
RPM
MPH
CTS - Coolant Temperature Sensor
IAT - Intake Air Temp
MAP - Manifold Absolute Pressure
MAF - Mas Air Flow - If your engine has a MAF sensor
TPS - Throttle Position Sensor
And you will be able to see the outputs of your ECM
IAC - The step the Idle Air Control (motorized valve) is set at
IPW - Injector Pulse Width
Ignition Advance - How much ignition advance your ECM is adding to the engine
HOWEVER
The oil pressure is not an input to the ECM so no you can't see it on the laptop.
