the biggest reason that most people skip the 4.3 in general, especially vs the 3800'sis because the 3800 blots right up to a fiero trans. The 4.3 requires the same exact swap kits that 350's do to bolt up to the trans and car itself.

In other words it's easier and cheaper to do a 3800, and for the same work you would be able to put a 350 in instead of 4.3.

There are other reasons as well. I would not recommend the cyclone 4.3 mostly because you'll never find one and if you do it won't be cheap. By the time you put together a 4.3 turbo set-up on your own you can probably have a running 3800 S/C car.

Lastly, just in case you didn't know, the 4.3 is a 350 minus 2 pistons. Maybe you knew that, maybe you didn't.

well the 4.3 needs the transmission adapter but the way i see it after that it cost the same due to both will need a flywheel in a standard both will need a front motor mounts both will need a harness made and so on. i know i gonna get a bunch of hate for this but the 4.3 has inches over the 3800 and it has better flowing head on the 96 and up vortec they are the same port design as the 350 vortec head and have a peak flow of about 230 cfm where the 3800 heads have about a peak flow of about 190 on the intake side and that extra flow = HP potential . flow number are unported stock heads but the real secret engine is the 3900 it is lighter these engine and it has heads that even flow more like in the 250 cfm range
