I have an 87 GT that I've been working on. The front bumper had a couple tears in it that needed attention so the bumper needed to come off anyway. Kris just happened to be parting out an '88 Coupe and I thought the GT would look good with the coupe bumper on it. After doing some searching I found some pictures of what Fieros with GT trim and Coupe/Formula bumper.

This hasn't been well documented so I thought I'd share what I have found and what my car looks like. Anyone else rocking a coupe/formula bumper on a GT?

I thought it looked pretty good, at least after the bumper and air dam are painted to match the GT trim. So I swapped all the brackets and retrofitted it to my '87. The air dam off the parts car was broken so I had to run without it for a while and the car definitely looked funny.

But I got a new air dam from FieroGuru and put it on and now it doesn't look as goofy. It really needs paint to look right so that'll probably happen in a month or so.

Raydar put a fastback setup on an 88 formula, so it's the same thing pretty much, only with no ground effects and the formula rear bumper. I like it.

I like the Formula + Fasback look more than the Fasback + Formula nose with the GT trim, but I really don't want to pull all my GT trim off and fill in the holes.

You mean the holes in the door skin after you remove the plastic? I would just get another door skin or something if/when I do that.

Glad to see the air dam snapped back into shape after being coiled up in the box for shipping!

Replacing the panels would be the best way, but that would involve new fenders, doors, and rear quarters and I'd rather not have to get it all repainted, although it is very tempting. If the car needed a complete repaint I'd do it in a heartbeat but as it sits it just needs the front bumper and decklid painted.

Hahah @ "Gormula"

FieroGuru: I'm glad it snapped back too, it came back out most of the way from just sitting in the sun and as I was mounting it to the bumper the rest of it straightened out just fine. I figured a worst-case scenario would be to straighten it back with a heat gun but it looks like the plastic was plenty elastic as-is.

Cool! Thanks for the info and the pic's, I have been planning this mod for my 86 GT a long time (before I saw it here). Just picked up the parts last weekend and will begin the process shortly.

This is a nice combo. The issue that we'll likely see down the road is that lower air dam piece. It's getting harder and harder to find those in really good shape and no one makes an aftermarket.

I put an 84 'bumper pad' nose on my 86 GT. I hate the GT snowplow nose. The flat one gets a beating on the highway from debris. A pointed nose I think gives it an aggressive shark like look I like.

It's been done many times before and in my opinion is a great look for the GT or any Fastback/Notchback combo.

I agree with Roger...the pig snouted GT is too flat and pics up so many rocks and debris while on the road. Don't get me wrong, I'd still own a stock GT just love the look this combo creates.

Here are some pics of my combo with a few body mods.

These pics were taken just after getting her back from the body shop. She's now in storage collecting dust while I work overseas.

When I get back she will be revigorated with some changes...Amida's G1 Dash, Lowered, and a new heart...maybe an LS4 if I can swing it.

I too like the look of the 87-88 Coupe/Formula front end and coupled to the GT makes the car seem to me to be more contemporary. I like the first Yellow and the last Blue cars.
My first Fiero was a base 88 coupe and I like the looks of the front end. But it was hit and the insurance company said it cost more to fix than what it was worth. I did get a very, very fair settlement so I purchased a 87 GT. The front end on the 87 has some issues and needs to be replaced. I think the 87-88 base front end would look fantastic on my car. besides I want to change the color. I like the mono paint scheme on the yellow and blue cars!!

I really like the Yellow car. It has the rear spoiler that has to be effect as opposed to the non functional wing we have from the factory. I noticed the owner of the yellow car added a lower spoiler of some kind. That is the look I like.

My first thought when I read the thread title was Raydar's 88 Formula
