Im new to pff but i have been reading every thing on the site and i see every ones builds so i wanted to put one up. i have a 84 SE that i bought for 350$ of a friends mom its not in the best shape but its fixable and being that i work at a body shop i like to think i know what im doing and my dad was a mechanic at a track and he will be helping me with every thing i want to do. my car is a 4 speed with nothing special to it but i am going to put the 3800 supercharged series II with mods and the exterior im not doing any thing crazy im doing flat black with recessed helo headlights and maybe some little things. for the enterior i am keeping it stock other then a sound system and paint. pics of what it looks like now coming soon

Welcome aboard!!

The black car in my sig was an 84, still has the 2.5 engine 4-speed Muncie ... I want to do a swap but it would be a shame to get rid of such a clean non oil burning good gas saving engine.

Interesting, looks like a pre-recall decklid (has the vent and rubber seal, which are GOOD things) and possibly a pre-recall motor, since the engine has the dipstick tube in the back facing towards the battery, but has the post-recall dipstick? Does it have the heat shield between the exhaust manifold and the head?

Looks like it has some front end damage, take the bumper off and have a look. New hood and headlight doors should be easy to find, the notchback clip takes a few hours to replace.

The trunk is caved in on the right side like somebody tried to jack it up there, check the coolant pipes for crush damage.

Apparently whoever ordered the car got every option but automatic transmission

RWDPLZ i will check that stuff out and see about the motor i haven't done much with it other then drive it a Lil and being that im a shop hand at a body shop i bought it because its a Lil beat up and my boss said we can fix the deck lid easily and there a couple Fieros in a local junkyard and i have checked all the lines none of them have issues and it looks more like some one backed in to something by the looks of it on the inside i don't know and i have fixed it and it does have every option as far as i know but the auto tranny which in my opinion is a good thing

I thought that I read recently that the 84s weren't the best candidates for doing engine swaps? Apparently it can be done, but with the extra work involved, you are probably better to get a newer model to start with? Just seems like a lot of money and effort to put in to an 84 when you could probably find a fairly decent 88 for a couple of grand.

The button between the power window switches is the OEM power mirror switch. You select which side you want to move and then can adjust the mirrors.

Indeed, there are some complications for placing a 3800 into an '84 model Fiero. Most of the swap harnesses people make won't work with your setup because of the differences in the C500. The primary reason why the wiring is so different with '84 model Fieros - in addition to minor differences in the primary junctions on the engine side - is because there was no six cylinder in 1984. When the six cylinder came along next year, the wiring was more streamlined to ensure build acceptability for both the four and six cylinder engines.

No one here can just tell you what you will need to swap in a 3800, because there are literally dozens of ways to go about doing it, depending on your needs. The best thing you can do is search and see what others have done.

Will being that they did not have a v6 in 84 but I won't have a issue with the wiring but it will fit but I will have to do some looking on the forum to see some 84 builds but I may have found a motor one of my friends has a Buick regal gs and his tranny is going out and he is going to go look at a Buick some one is parting out but I would have to rebuild it and maybe put some parts in it

It'll work, but be advised that the 84 4-speed has a weaker case than later years. If you push it, the case will crack.

i don't mind the four speed but i would like some more experience with it also i have the hole front end off and the rear bumper i found a little rust in the trunk that is all the way threw i will see about getting some pics up today also i saw that on the 84s the sail panels are glass and sense i hate cars with badges i cant paint them so i probable sell them for a pair that i can paint
