I sold a 30,000 mile 87 GT to a friend of mine the other day the following issues happened all at once . Horn won't work , interior floor lights won't work and when you open the door the radio resets and the digital face goes blank and to top it off it runs bad. Any help would be appreciated

The alternator gauge shows its in the red he replaced the alternator no change.

Another vote for bat fuse. Also, check the wiring in your trunk light as it can cause this too (dont ask me how I know).

Fuse #11 on this diagram. I had the exact same issue a few weeks ago.

Start by charging the battery.

The alternator sounds like it is not working. Anyone have a digital multimeter for testing what the real voltage of the alternator is?

Is the new battery fully charged?

If it is, you have a bad connection somewhere. Is the car starting?

Remove the battery cables and clean the mating surfaces. While the battery is disconnected remove the wires from the power distribution posts below C500 and inspect them for corrosion and clean them if needed.

If your car is an 84 the power distribution is at the starter solenoid.

If none of those are bad check your grounds.

One more thing you can check...

on the passenger side footwell, on the right side up behind courtesy light, pull the carpet away from the wall.
There are 2 or 3 black (ground) wires that are screwed to the frame. Check to make sure all of them are still attached and have a good connection.

Brand new battery fully charged and it's a 87 GT C500 is spotless and rust free . The cars starts perfect but now runs rough.

If none of those are bad check your grounds.

Check the trunk light, mine did EVERYTHING described. I put in a new alt, bat and tore apart the interior to find out it was my trunk light.
