Hello, the wife and i are working on our second child (its a girl!) so i decided i would start a fun project for my 85 GT to excuse me from having to change any diapers when necessary! haha, anyways i recently ripped a 3.4 out of a 1995 camaro ($400) and am hoping to tear it down and rebuild with decent performance parts durable enough for a turbo pushing about 12 psi. I plan on posting pictures soon but am looking to take my time and do it right as it is my first stand alone conversion. Wish me luck!

FYI a 3.4 out of a camaro is not a 3400. The 3400 name refers to the aluminum head 3.4's out of FWD cars like the grand am, impala, venture vans, etc. A 3.4 camaro engine is pretty much the same as a fiero 2.8 with a bigger bore/stroke (there's differences, but mainly just things like the intake and coil pack etc you can make it look just like a 2.8).

The camaro 3.4 will be an easier swap for sure, but the 3400 is a fantastic engine if you are willing to do the extra work. The stock aluminum heads can outflow heavily ported iron heads. The 3400 also has a roller cam set-up and you can get a custom ground cam for it.

But, since you already have the 3.4, upgrading the internals, porting the heads/intake and 12 PSI should make 300 HP. At least I'd be shocked if it didn't

I decided to wait on fixing up the engine i purchased, if anyone is interested feel free to pm me, otherwise its gonna be on the engine stand for a while. I have become more interested in making my car efficient with what it has (the 3.2L) and most would bargain the 3.4L isnt worth the money since its so close to the 3.2L...

A thought: Maybe have my 3.2L bored .010 and install hyper eutectic pistons with oversized rings to handle boost? Not much research done here yet. going to start a new topic if i get on it though.

If you want to make your car more efficient, sell the 3.4 and buy a NA 3800 with the 4T65E tranny.
