looking at some new wheels and the ones i found come in a 17x7.5 with a 45mm offset. According to Joe Torma's offset diagram, they will sit in a bit more than stock wheels (1/2in?) . Curious if anyone is running the same size and what it looks like.

What year is your ride? Just curious, because know there have been discussions about the offset needing to be different on an 88. I'm kind of looking for some ideas and information as well.

Probably depends on the tire as much as the rim. I tried 16 inch rims with a 42mm offset. Lots of room, LOTS, with a 205/55 tire. Hits the strut with a 225/60.

It's an 87 gt. I'm doing coil overs on the rear so not worried about hitting. Just don't want the wheels looking goofy being too far in compared to the wheel well edge. I am doing a beretta brake conversion in the front though which might push the fronts out even with the fender, thinking the rears might need a 10mm spacer

Be aware that you may have an issue with the wheel hitting the strut knuckle. I don't believe 17" wheels have the gap to go over the top of the knuckle. If you are running the stock wheels right now, look under the vehicle and see the clearance from the top of the inside wheel lip to the strut knuckle. There is not much room there.

Edit....this is a pic from another member. This is the knuckle I am talking about. The stock 15" wheel almost touches this point so the larger wheels 18-20" slide over this knuckle. I think the 17" wheels would still hit if the offset is too far inwards.

I ran that exact width and offset wheels (ALT AT-148's) on a stock suspension 88 with no interference problems. I used a 215/17/45's in front and a 245/45/17's in back. It looked great on the car.

From what i read this would be most common after market size purchased. 35 or 45 offsets.
