Forget that where is Don Kraus (I think I spelled that right). I want to see the two of you lined up

Just read an article between dyno manufacturers/numbers. My 548 was made on a Mustang dyno. The 474 was made on a Dyno Dynamics. They say the Dyno Dynamics is the "heartbreaker" of dynos for that reason, that it reads lower because of the way it loads the car and makes a better real world type tuning atmosphere. They say to get a Mustang dyno type number, you take the Dyno Dynamics number and multiply by 1.18 to get a conversion. Theoretically I could of made 559 on a Mustang dyno yesterday which makes me happy because running 2 psi less boost, I would of theoretically made 11 more hp than last time on a Mustang dyno. Ive got it out for that Dyno Dynamics though to break 500.

...I guess it should be the same right? Just need a couple extra injectors and valve springs for the LS.
I think the formula is just get a stock bottom end, bolt a 700hp turbo on, cool it and give it some extra fuel. Right?

I completely agree. Now that wasn't the question, was it?

The fixed multiplication factor is a kludge, but I suppose someone decided it works for half-assed comparisons for "typical" cars.

The Dyno Dynamics is probably an inertia type. The difference is that some engine torque is being used to accelerate the moment of inertia of the drivetrain's rotating parts.

Unless you're driving your car on the Bonneville salt flats trying to set a speed record, in most sorts of driving, the engine is accelerating, so that's probably why they say it's "more realistic".

With a steady-state (or more slowly ramping) Mustang dyno, the drivetrain's moment of inertia doesn't come into play. Engine torque not used for accelerating these parts is put down to the rollers.

He answered my question about that. He has some forged internals too. I have a turbocharged ls4 and I don't feel a need to argue about what is best. I'm really happy with what I've got, but I'm not planning to compete with it. Ls/3800, take your choice. Obviously the 3800 is working for Fierox. The ls/3800 debate should be a fun thing without all the negative comments.

I'm following fierox, Don Kraus, and Fog. Since Fog has a built grand national engine with a th425 tranny and a 10.6 so far I think he can wring a lot more out of his setup. I'm guessing that Don will need to boost his engine to be competitive with these guys, but it's a great build anyway as are all of these. They're all fast fieros and fascinating to me.

Good grief that's one hell of a herd under the "hood."

Just out of curiosity, what you using to reign those pony's in at the end of the track? Parachute, boat anchor, prayer when all else fails?

stock brakes are enough to get it stopped.. assuming you have factory bias.

I have factory rotors, front calipers on the rear, doing away with Ebrake, ceramic pads, and a custom vacuum pump system that actuates when I hit the brake pedal. Works in conjunction with engine vacuum, also works with a series of two check valves that allow vacuum to operate the booster under times of boosting on the line.

He didn't say his LS couldn't make the power, he was referring to 28 pounds of boost. A common rule of thumb for stock LS engines is ~10 psi, though some people do push past that. Reading comprehension, people... learn it.
