So today i found out that someone had called advance auto parts looking for am 85 trunk lock which is what i am looking for.... this guy called about an hour before me. I called there after work and was on hold for a few min ready to hang up a angry old man picked up asked very quickly "someone helping you"? i said no..... "well what do you want" at this point i was quite angry i said "im looking for a part for a 1985 fiero" the old guy said "look i already told you the price it is 27.13(in a harsh tone and semi yelling the number)i said well sir i didnt call earlier and im not the other guy. i was ready to ask for the manager and complain but decided to stop.... he had to look up the same part he yelled at me for to tell me the price i just hung up. ridiculous

I was about to go to Advance after meeting the tool of a manager at the Autozone here... A nice older Italian sales guy was helping me find some stuff - fuel pump pulsator (other sales guy - is that the thing that makes ignition pulses? LOL), then a fuel pump sock (Walbro is bigger than OEM, no luck there..). Then he was helping me look for a tensioner for the 3800, on an upper shelf unfortunately. After looking at a few with no luck he asked the manager if he had an idea of one that would work.. Manager told him to take lunch NOW, that he had helped me long enough... There was 1 other customer in the store and at least 3 sales guys besides the manager... What a tool. When I said "Fiero" the sales guy said "Is it out there?!". He seemed all excited, unfortunately it doesn't run yet.. I'll have to go back and show him when I'm done and tell the manager I bought all my parts at Napa.

All of these stores have different types of management and employees. If that was the West Allis store it wouldn't suprise me. Go to the Brookfield store on Bluemound. I've found that the guys ( and gal ) there were top notch and the gal was very pleasant to look at : ).

Good luck!

As a manager of a parts store I can tell you that you will get bad customer service now and then at any retail store. You can't judge any of them by a single bad experience. Were you treated right - no way but next time you very well might be treated like a king. We all try hard to do our best but sometimes we slip. Sometime things just get to us. You don't know how many times the other Fiero person had called or what might have gone on as part of that transaction. It shouldn't be that way but it's a fact of life that we all let things get to us.

Also ( and I mention this with a great deal of fear ) many times our attitude is a reflection of yours. You admitted you were upset about having to wait on hold. Is it possible that you had something to do with his response? Perhaps you over reacted to his statements which only added fuel to the fire.

Just some things for you to think about.

I think what would be funnier is if 1000 people call up the same store asking for the SAME part........

In response to AR . When he picked up I was calm no tone. I don't like to fret about stuff just not worth it. This store is usually busy the problem is the people they have are just not nice i am there all the time and so is my friend he also says he usually gets bad service. There are two guya there who really know what they are talking about the manager and the assistant manager. I'm just telling everyone now because this was about the last straw my friend was acctualy on the store picking up a paint strippig disc and heard the conversation between the clerk and I. And the guy standing in line next to him made a comwnt to my friend saying wow that seemed pretty harsh. I know people make mistakes and are not on the ball all the time. But come on every time bad service.

I'd write a letter to Advance Auto Corporate and get that a*shole fired. Clerks at Advance are hired to serve the customer. While most are polite and helpful you occasionally encounter a bad seed. When a counter clerk is rude to me I just tell them "whats the matter, are you having a bad day" Most people that work at these stores are usually very helpful so I would rate your experience as the exception and not the rule.

Your point is well taken. There are people who just shouldn't be in this business. While this is not my store nor even my company, let me, on behalf of the auto parts industry, say I'm sorry for the way you have been repeatedly treated. Hopefully you will find a store that you trust and that treats you like you should be treated. You said you go there a lot, that the store is often busy and that there are people working who do know their stuff, so maybe overall this isn't that bad of a place.

Well, the cars are all about the same age and the parts all do wear out at about the same time . . .
This is an interesting idea but could be kind of mean. It should be done to someone who could appreciate it.
