First a special thanks to Fiero Jon in Tuckerton, NJ for his 14 hrs. labor on removing 2 exhaust manifold bolts that were broken off. Of coarse they were on the firewall side and under the air conditioning bracket. Not to mention that someone had replaced one of them with a hardened bolt (how thoughtful of them). About 6 hrs. into the job I had no regrets on the decision on taking the car from VA to NJ to get this fixed. His supply of parts for the car became invaluable in doing the job. Now a word of warning about Jon, we were breaking for lunch and needing to pickup more cobalt drills for the hardened bolt (used 4) he suggested stopping by his house to show me his Fiero. If he ever does this to you DON’T GO. His car is awesome but contagious and has side effects. A few days after exposure you start to look at yours and it’s not the same. Parts of your car that looked ok before now need to look better.

Here is how my infection progressed.

First we start with wheels and tires.

Then the calipers look bad so we paint

Then the carpet looks bad so we dye

Panels that are warped need to be replaced

Doors need lights (from a 69-70 Mustang)

Lights need LED’s

New headliner, sun visors,

Well you get the picture how this very nasty disease progresses BEWARE it can infect you!

Thanks for the kind words!

Don't let Nelson fool you all...
He came and saw my car, and then would not go home until I sold him the wheels and tires you see in the pictures right off my wife's car!
She luckily was not home at the time, otherwise I would have been going home with you to VA! Lol

We had fun. The only piece of advice I will give to others for using Rodney's exhaust jig:
Do not lubricate the bits.
This makes them useless against the hardened steel bolts.
Go out and buy 10 cobalt 17/64 bits and cut them down.
Then they will fit up there with a right angle drill.
What a job...
I just did another manifold last week with 3 broken bolts.
I used zero cutting oil, and the job went twice as fast.

I just visited Jon to get a few parts for my restoration. Previously I checked out his gold car and it does make you feel like your car needs to be upgraded. Hence the upgraded restoration going on right now.
