I painted my mirrors with rattlecan and they are chipping and darkening, (versus fading). Not really looking that bad for the few bucks I spent, but not OEM quality for sure.

I painted my side intake scoop and the front license plate mount with Duplicolor spray cans and they are doing fine (a couple years). Of course I sanded, primed, painted and clear coated them. And I wash and wax them regularly.

I Duplicolored the roof of my white 84 8 years ago and it still looks OK, and the nose two years ago, and still good. Just added a new scoop on the rear deck and I'm in the process of compounding that to get a shine on it.

whole car with Krylon "Satin - Italian Olive" from Walmart. Took about 15 cans or so, I still have a few in the garage. I bought about 3-4 at a time. Also used about 8 cans of Primer under the Green. Took off each body panel, sanded them down, fixed little imperfections and then primered. Sanded the primer, reshot it, sanded again. Then when the primer coat was good, I hit them with the Krylon. Sanded the first coat, repaint sanded the second and then applied a third. The last coat was not touched. It is as it came out of the can. No one, and I mean no one can tell its spray paint. Its been on for over a year and a half and it still looks great.

Thats the key with spray paint. Use a satin finish and it looks awesome when you are done. Use a gloss finish and be prepared for the sanding and buffing to actually achieve a glossy shine......for a short time.

Make sure if you do paint it to use acrylic paint it will be 5x the price of enamel but it will adhere if prepared properly.
Rattle can or not use wax and grease remover to clean the paint nothing will stick without it cleaned.

A previous owner turned my 87GT 2-tone into a monochrome black with rattlecan... it looked like poo when i got it. flaking, chipping, cracking. I just finished stripping it off back down to the original grey.
