Just wondering how many members are current Police Officers, Troopers, PSA, CHP, State Police, Parks Police, Federal Police, Transit, Mint, Sheriff? i searched and pulled up an old short thread but things are different now maybe more people.

I am a PSA on the San Francisco Police Department so everyone else list off!

side note im hoping to be in the next academy class for Peace Officer here in SF as well

I'm a 24/48 volunteer at a fire dept in washington, we share the same building as them.

As a matter of fact, they asked me to test out their new tasers next week.

Time to ride the lightning!

I wouldn't do that if I were you. There is a member on the forum, a former police officer that was permanently damaged by a taser. While it is likely safe for most people, do you want to find out if you are one of the people that comes out screwed up?

I understand why LEOs have to do it. My comment was directed at Adam who is a volunteer fire fighter. Is there any reason why he would have to do it besides for entertainment value?

No no I understood your comment I dunno why on earth you'd do it by choice. I dread the next pepper spray.......and SF is moving to a high heat rating spray so the next time I get it it will be worse

For some reason I have a natural cause to run from the police.

Story being, some buddies and I were on a golf trip and had some time and went walking down a old junky road beside the Intercoastal water canal drinking beer and were looking around when a Police car came flying down to where we were. Me, by natural instinct, in flip flops no less, took off running like I stole a car. About a minute into it and real close to jumping a fence, I had a mind fart and realized I had no reason to be running. I was not doing nothing illegal and I was legal drinking age.
My friends were still standing in the same spot they were originally and looking at me like my hair was on fire. The Officer pulled up and asked what we were doing and why their friend was running.

They told them they have no idea, and then after walking back to them I said i had no idea why I was running either. That it was an instinct and I just saw the cop car coming at high speed and felt the need to run.

The officer said he thought we might have been some of the kids painting graphidy and saw me run and that's why he sped up to get to us.

We talked for a few minutes and walked back to our hotel.

Was really funny when it went down and we still talk about it ever year when we go back golfing in Myrtle Beach.

You golf in flip-flops?

BTW, only run if your guilty... Running only makes it look like you did something wrong...

This makes no sense to me. As a LEO you carry a gun, and may have to use it. No one has to get shot to understand the responsibility involved.

Class Two Five from KRPA. Served 2 years in a small village in MI and now can't find anything better. All Michigan unemployed LEO's are having the same problem. Time to get a job in another state.

Non lethal options so you know how to react if you get hit by accident. If your in a situation where you tase or spray someone there is the chance you may get spray back or even a shock. You have to be able to react in that situation.

What is there to understand? Do you have to volunteer to get shot at because you carry a gun?

The 2nd reply in this thread by Adam says he is a volunteer firefighter. The 2nd sentence in the post of mine you quoted says that Adam is a volunteer firefighter. My post was a warning to Adam and has nothing to do with LEOs getting tased. That is what the first sentence of the post you quoted means.

You get tazed so you know how to react? I thought everyone already knows how instinctively.

1. get hit by tazer
2. tense up body and grit teeth
3. involuntarily hit the ground hard
4. soil pants (optional)

See! Nothing to it!
