Hello NTFC and all other persons that might like to join us on a day long adventure!
This is your monthly meeting reminder! Spring is a special time for us in NTFC because we want to welcome all Fiero enthusiasts to help us carry on the tradition of the Spring Fling!
For the March meeting, Saturday the 26th, we will NOT have our regular meeting at Pappa's BBQ.
The Spring Fling Scepter (imagine something like Lord Stanley's cup... but with a bunch of springs on it...) will be passed from Tom to me, and we will have to determine new Spring Fling Champions... with custom made trophies.
Tom and I spent a weekend scouting forgotten roads and interesting locations to come up with a great day of fun for this sixth edition of the Fling. I hope you can join us for all or a part of the day for food, fellowship, and a rigorous suspension workout.
Here is the itenerary: 0930: Lineup and visit. Pre-Cruise Driver's Meeting. Make sure your tank is full! 1000: Depart West Fort Worth, (probably right off I-20, at the Cracker Barrel @ Winscott) http://hosted.where2getit.com/crackerbarrel/ (8010 SW Loop 820, Benbrook, TX 76126)
1300: Leave Granbury, drive to Thorp Springs to fling the spring for the Spring Fling. Club business and announcements. the birthplace of TCU
1345: After flinging the spring, and new Spring Fling champions crowned, we depart Thorp Springs. 1445: Using TX-4 (read motion sickenly fun road), Arrive at the coal mine ghost town of Thurber, TX (museum, explore, photo ops) Museum cost is $3, cash! http://www.tarleton.edu/gor.../thurberhistory.html
1600: Depart the museum in Thurber, and cut around Lake Palo Pinto to the Palo Pinto Courthouse 1700: Arrive at the Courthouse, talk in amazement at what you just drove through
1800 or so: Arrive in Weatherford at Nizza Pizza for supper http://www.nizzapizza.com/home.php (overflow parking is next door at 'Anytime Fitness')
If you do the whole tour, it is 149 miles, and should make for a very memorable day. Thurber is right off I-20... so if you can't do supper, it makes a convenient point to leave the cruise, though I gotta tell you... you won't believe the roads your going to miss.
I am not too far away from Weatherford, so after saying good-byes--- we might get some poker games or cigars going out at my place.
I hope you can make the full event! See you on the 26th!
*** additional clubs invited, North Texas Third Gen and Lone Star Muscle! ------------------ <---- did you buy Cliff a beer?
Many thanks to Tom Slick for our spiffy banner pic

Too bad we won't have the chance to do Plan B, I'd really like to see those big cats. I guess that can be another NTFC activity or next year's Spring Fling from our northern host. I hope the Park Attendent (not the guy who show you his big #%& that you so graciously put your mitts on) will still be at Fort Richardson State Park.
Blake - have thought about us starting in Benbrook? Isnt there a park right there on 377 next to the lake. Unless it interferes with your crazy route to granbury. Just a thought.

Dave, I hope you can make it out. Tom, I think as a matter of convenience, I picked the Cracker Barrel off I-20. Lots of parking, gas is right there, and if people want a pre-Babes breakfast (blasphemy!)... they could get there early enough for that option. Easy access to the highway... looks to be a great leap off point.
I sent the Yahoo email list the notice... jarhead replied... looks like he will be coming in for the event, and riding his bike.

I thought about CB as a starting point and the albertsons across the highway too but then the park idea pop in my head. CB will be a good place, mmmm biscuit and gravy.

If anyone is interested in burning some gas... I am running the cruise stop to finish on Sunday afternoon to make sure there are no surprises and talk to the restuarant management.

Hey, if you don't mind hanging with me for the 3rd straight weekend I'll roll with you. I forgot to ask what route we were going to take to get to Granbury the other day, this way i can find out. Plus, maybe DOA can be seen afterwards?

WHAT!!! There will be people there that will want to check out your car. If not, then they'll have look at Stephen's car.
My inspection is out along with my right headlight motor. So I need to get that fixed so I can attempt an inspection. I have ordered a Gen II system from a member on here and am re-building with the low profile look. So I time is not on my side to get er done before the 26th.

I have been planning to attend, but have been having some issues with the starter, battery, and a CV joint boot. I will probably have to trailer the Fiero to the starting point and the Cracker Barrel.
The Question: Is there anywhere that I could leave the SUV & trailer near there and still expect it to still be there that evening?
I've never driven the car more than 100 miles at any one time, and it would be about 350 miles round trip (including the fun drive), so I thought I might need the backup way to get home if something breaks!
Any suggestions? Thanks. Egor

I'd just leave your car at Cracker Barrel... they have a whole side dedicated to bus/trailer parking... the area is well lit. There is a hotel right behind the CB too... lots of parking there. I would just make sure of having a way to secure the trailer to the truck... get to CB early enough to unload the car and get breakfast. Throw the CB receipt on the dash to show your are a paying customer.
I ran the roads today with 2 other Fiero's... WOW. It should make a great day.

Jim & Debbie in a pickup. Poe in a pickup. Tim in a pickup. Joe in a pickup. Igor maybe in a pickup. I need to rename the club NTPC...
Well, I'll take you anyway that I can get you.
In the past couple of years, NTFC has been invited to participate with the North Texas Third Gen (F-Body models) and the Lone Star Muscle club on their cruises. A few of us have attended these fun events (me, Bryan, Tom, Mark)... and those guys turned out to be pretty cool and welcoming. Our past several NTFC activities have really only garnered the same usual suspects... the same cars and faces you see every month... and as opposed to this Fling being more of the same, I invited those two clubs to join us on our cruise.
I have gotten some good feedback chatter from both of their forums, and it looks like several guests will be joining us for the day. I think this is great... It will give us some inter-club participation, and give you guys something new to look at. At this point, it does look like guests will outnumber the hosts, but hey... the more the merrier! You guys make friends pretty easily... and I think these guys will enjoy seeing both Fiero's that show up and the plethora of pickups.

Welllll.... Actualllllyyyy.... A pickup may be more fitting for some of the roads I have selected...
Well got the spinter valve replaced in the Fiero and only have to bleed the culo now so should be able to bring the Fiero...I might even wash it for the event since we got Foreigners that might show up...
