I'm looking to buy an 84 Fiero but I have an awesome opportunity to get an 87 service manual & parts catalog. Is there a big difference in the service manuals between 84 & 87?

Yeah, I was hoping you'd blow up like you normally do and waste an hour typing up a poorly patched and grammatically incorrect response. You came through on the grammar and punctuation side, which while not being as amusing, was worth what I rifled off last night. Which service manual did you use when you installed your Honda Civic door hinges?

Anyway, not getting too off track with useless banter, there are many differences between the two, electrical and mechanical. It would be worth your while to grab the car if its what you want, sometimes the FSMs will turn up in the mall or ebay if you really want a printed document. Otherwise the downloadable manuals are a great resource as well.
I agree he needs the correct year FSM for the car, which is what I was trying to say. I have all FSM except 1986 and they are completely necessary to have the right year for your car. Some information is interchangable obviously but when it comes to diagnosing certain problems you can get lost real fast if you have a different year manual.

X2 or 3 or whatever....especially 84 and 88s are very "special" read different, wiring, suspension etc etc, no substitute for the right manual for the car!!
