Today, February 14, 2011, St. Valentines Day, I will marry my girlfriend of 8 months. It was almost love at first sight when we met. She had come into Dick's Sporting Goods to buy bicycles for herself and her two sons. I was working there part-time as the store's bike tech. I spent about an hour or so with the three of them and had a good time. They were all fun to be around.
Tammy had ordered a bike carrier for her Pilot but it hadn't come in yet. I closed the sale and hung her new bikes up on the ceiling rack so they wouldn't be bothered by anyone else. They hung there for several days and I kept finding myself checking that rack as soon as I came into the store each day. I gave her a couple of "courtesy calls" to let her know when I would be in the store just in case she might need help attaching her new bike carrier or with loading her new bikes onto it.
Before she came back after the bikes, I looked her up on Facebook. As luck would have it, we had a mutual friend. I sent her a friend request and cited our mutual friend and of course our previous bicycle connection. She admitted that she accepts anyone who sends her a friend request and really didn't know our "mutual" friend at all. We immediately began chatting and e-mailing. We had our first lunch date shortly after that.
I had only known her a matter of days when I told her I loved her and asked her to marry me. She accepted. Since then, I found out that not only does she like my Fiero, she USED TO OWN ONE! She had a black '88 V6 Auto but doesn't remember if it was an SE or a Formula. She doesn't recall having a Formula sign on the doors.
The other day, we cleaned out her garage to make room for my Fiero. She threw out a bunch of stuff including furniture that was her parents and also baby furniture that she used for her kids. She really wanted me to have a place for my car and tools and stuff and to feel like it was going to be my home, too. How sweet is that?
We can't get away from our jobs for a proper honeymoon any time soon so we are going to go to the courthouse around lunch time. We will be taking her kids with us. Then we will all go out to lunch somewhere and her ex-husband asked if we wanted him to keep the boys over night so we could have some time alone. He has only met me once and we really didn't talk so I was surprised to hear his offer. It was very nice and also unexpected. I think we'll take him up on it.
After lunch, we plan to go to our local Napa store to pick up a GM weather-pack tool for my Fiero fuel sending unit project. BUYING TOOLS TO WORK ON A FIERO ON MY WEDDING DAY!!! Can I pick 'em? How cool is that?
She is the love of my life and she is THE ONE. Today, I will make her mine forever.

Even though it's great to be be true and Congrats.... I'd skip the Fiero and spend time with her. A day out on the town.... This is the day for the two of you and not the car.
Sometimes marriage leaves you in the garage by yourself.. alone... and eventually she doesn't want any part of your hobbies, nor spend time with you... So you'll have some time to catch up on the car... Speaking personal experience. unfortunately.
Awesome! I dated my wife of 17 years for 18 days when we got engaged. Don't let the neigh sayers get you down! But...I had to read it again...you kept coming in each day to check out her rack!! (Had to be said...sorry).

She's a good woman, can you tell?

Congrats Boostdreamer!! Hey you're doing a good thing! My wife of nearly 32 years (we got married after only a few weeks of dating) keeps encouraging me to buy more cars. 13 of them are in the fleet now, and 6 of those are Fieros! Best wishes to both of you.

Dang, that's quite a story - sounds like a script straight from a chick flick! But seriously, congrats to both of you and the very best. I'm sure you both deserve to be happy in matrimony. A Fiero-loving wife, has to be a match made in heaven! My wife of 25 years is more like a Fiero-tolerating wife, but I'll take it!
