Gold wheels were a no cost option. I suspect someone would have had to have ordered it that way, or have the dealer change it. Probably most buyers didn't even realize the gold wheel option was available.

Were there any Yellow GTs shipped with Gold wheels? I know Formula only came with black lace wheels.
All 241 yellow 88GT's that were produced came with black wheels. Gold wheels were not able to be ordered with the yellow paint. I have considered gold wheels on my yellow 88 GT 5-speed. It would not tie in with the gray interior they all came with, but who would notice with window tint?

Just a couple of years later you could order a yellow Trans Am GTA with gold crosslace wheels. I have one of the dealer posters showing this combo. Go figure.......

I do not understand why there were no yellow GT's or Formulas with beechwood interior. I have never bought a yellow 88 because I personally dislike the grey interior / yellow paint.
The gold wheels look better than I would have thought as well/

FM- ALL yellow cars came with GREY. (as I've been told by people who seem to know). My guess on this was because of the way GM ordered things SO far in advance back then. The SILVER color was discontinued when the yellows started. I figure that the grey interior destine for the silver had to go in the yellow. I had a coupe with beautiful beechwood and started to swap it over but decided it was too difficult to switch back if original was desired. I had seen the TAs with the gold wheels and thought they looked better also. I went and looked at a F355 the other day (yellow). It had black rims and it looked like someone had stolen the tires. I thought it would also apply to my Fiero. I like the addition of more detail in the wheel area. I traded a guy some 16" aftermarket for these Gold rims. I would never bother with 16"s on a Fiero so the trade worked out well for both of us. ------------------ Life is just SO much better when you own AND drive a Fiero!

Gold wheels don't 'compliment' the yellow. They'd probably look better on red or medium metallic red cars. I've had gray, gold and black wheels om my 88 Coupe and Formula, The gold really should have been the OEM wheels on the Formula IMHO. Sorta Firebidish is probably why they didn't. They really pop with the black.

I fixed that problem - my GT was originally white with the Beechwood interior - now it's a yellow choptop with beechwood interior

Not for the Formula. I ordered mine from factory and I wanted gold rims and was not allowed to order them.
