A bracket attached to the tranny is also attached to both header collectors to share the weight of the Y pipe and add strength to the headers. The entire exhaust system is attached to the engine, not the frame by a series of custom brackets.

Not the prettiest, but definetely an eye opener and a head turner. The most complements I get are on the sound, the stance and for the ones that have been in it; the handling.
Darthfiero and I are working in the ECM calibration by logging data and sending via email, a long and tedious process but he is doing an excellent job so far. The car keeps improving. I dynoed it with the 1st chip he sent and it produced 45whp and 32 lbs/ft of torque at the wheels over the stock trim motor, before the all the upgrades and that was averaging AFR of 9.3, we have some more work to do. Can somebody help me post that dyno sheet?

Thanks
Rei Moloon

The 1st dyno is the stock engine, stock plenum & TB vs TPI upper plenum & TPI TB. Gained 2whp peak at the expense of loosing 7 ft/lbs peak. The gain came past 4800rpm with 4whp and 3wlbs/ft gained @ 5500rpm. I could definitely feel the mid range lost in power, it was very noticeable, but could hardly feel the slight advantage of the top end. On a stock engine, I would stay with the stock plenum.

The 2nd dyno is the stock engine with the TPI plenum vs the same upgraded 2.8. I immediately felt the midrange punch and the never ending top end! I was very happy to see a peak gain of 32whp and 21wft/lbs over the stocker with the TPI upper plenum, but I really got excited when I saw the numbers at the 6000rpm mark! A whopping 45whp and 32wft/lbs of torque with darthfiero's 1st chip. The 1st dyno numbers came at 147whp, after dialing the fuel back to stock setting it gained 8whp to end up with the mentioned 155whp but still rich all over the place. Right now it has the 4th chip and it feels very strong. I will dyno in the near future and will update on the final numbers.

Thank againg Craig!

I doubt it. I'm not into ultimate, max bragging power. My goal is noticeable humble engine power combined with a lightweight, nimble, balanced and predictable handling chassis with awesome stopping power and with the reliability to withstand the punishment in the hot summer week ends on my local road course and some spirited driving when I want to forget about the world.

Thats respectable. Does it have roller lifters? I bet with all the upgrades and machining it runs quieter, but the exhaust note is loud with the headers and race muffler.

No rollers. It had the stock flat tappets but after one of them pumped up on me and resulted in a bent valve I replaced them with a set of SBC racing hydraulics from Comp Cams. These are adjustable from .000 to .030 preload, I have them at .000 or no preload. So, the are a little noisier than usual but that doesn't bother me. I'd rather have the assurance that when I hit 6500-7000rpm and the oil pressure pumps them up it will not affect the vavetrain clearances. On the contrary, now I have solid lifter performance in the top end.
