For those who know, Rourke aquired a 4 speed Allante transmission for his N* project and has been on the hunt for any info and schematics for this transmission. I was the other half of the party who got the engine from this donor car. 47,000 miles approximately, engine was in running before we pulled it from the car and A/C had a full charge. The motor has been sitting in my storage for the time being and starting to look into this project now. My 3400 had another tranny issue again (bracket this time) but caused a few other problems that need fixing now. 3400 is pulled and sitting on a stand waiting to be repaided and modded.

I'm at a point now where I'm thinking of holding off the 3400 for now and start on the V8 project. I've been over almost every thread with 4.9L & Allante's in them gathering info and cam specs, where to order the flywheel from, springs to use, steel rocker support, harness schematics and little issues like the TPS and Idle setting. I've come to a point now where I have to decide if I want to keep this motor complete since it's a low milage Allante motor or go with the hybrid 4.9L with Allante intake set-up. If I keep it complete, I want to send the crank out for balancing so I can use neutrally balanced flywheel and hoping to get higher revs out of the motor. The 4.9L is already balanced but doesn't have as high of a rev limit, but from what I've read, the Allante intake set-up increases the HP & torque on the 4.9L. Would love to do a turbo set-up like PBJT did but that's not in the budget right now.

Curious on what other peoples opinions on choice between these two swaps and not why I'm doing any of the other motor swaps that are out there. Looking for pros & cons between the two that I might have missed in the 5hrs of research last night.

I've got a 4.9 with an Allante intake setup. It is noticeably quicker than stock, but I'm having some minor tuning issues. (A minor spark rattle, ping, preignition, etc., that I cannot get rid of.)
I'm not done tuning yet, so I haven't given up.
A few days ago, I recognized something that I was overlooking. Just haven't had much time to mess with it for the past 2-3 weeks.

Other folks have not reported this issue, so maybe there's something else going on with mine.

Does Roarke know what he's gotten into?
The Allante uses an F7 transaxle. It's apparently not the usual 4T60. Kind of a strange bird. It's got some electronics, but not as much as a 4T60E.
I don't know of anything else that uses this transaxle.

I've got a 91 Allante manual. I can scan whatever he/you need. Hopefully not a whole chapter.
