Quick story: I spent the afternoon hanging out with a friend... She doesn't have a car, so I was the driver.
We were heading back to her place so I could drop her off; there was a group of kids playing in the street just down the street When I turned the corner, they just stopped and watched. My fare got out and as I was getting ready to go, I noticed the group had walked up beside me... I got a thumbs-up from a couple of them (with a big smile, to boot). I rolled away and romped on it a bit.
Just gloating a bit - made me feel cool for once. (the loud V6 exhaust probably helped a bit - my car has a lope at idle, but you can only just notice it)
Well... Carry on.

A couple nights ago I went out with a groop of guys my age (grade 9), so we come back to my house and all the guys were asking about my 85 coupe. Nobody knew what kindof car it was or who made it! but all the jaws dropped in the groop when i opened the lambo doors! People were asking "How much was that?!" and "Where did you get that?!"...now thats what makes me love owning a Fiero!

I have noticed a lot of younger guys, probably late teens-early twenties, just gawk at my car as they drive by in their japanese fart can-equipped cars. The look on their faces is priceless...as if to say, "What the heck is that?" Clearly they have never seen a Fiero before.

All I know is that both my boys (age 2 and 9months) love it when they get to ride in "daddy's car" My oldest sits in his carseat when I have him in it and goes "vrooom vroom" and copies me shifting the gears gotta start em out early. He "helps" me work on my car almost every weekend.
So as ya can see, both my boys are already bitten by the fiero bug, lol

I guess it was around 13-14 years ago, my dad was transferrd from the Nashville branch (of whatever company he worked for at the time, I don't remember) to the branch in Huntsville.
Guess what I ended up driving by several times a month? Yep, that place in Toney with all of those "junk cars." happenstance? Yeah.
Amazing realization? Indeed.

where i live, for some reason, is Tuner-town. not Madison, just my road/block lol. even tho my Fiero isnt fast, or pretty, the duke is pretty throaty and sure SOUNDS fast lol. the ricers that live in my building and the next building over always stare at me when im in my car. the "thugs" (scrawny white boys who seem to think they are so cool they can say "n*gga") also always stare at me as i drive by. idk why tho. otherwise, no little kids have even seen my car, at least not when i was in/around it.

everytime i come home from my night shift the neighbors kids are staring through their bedroom windows. they're only abt 5yrs or so.
better story that made me feel like a B.A$$. i was going around a corner that happened to have a porky's diner. the guy in the pig suit stuck his hand to his ear as if he was waiting for me to stomp it. so i punched it and slid around the corner. he gave me a big thumbs up.....the cop across the street gave me a ticket. but i got out of it. (told the judge the guy egged me on). still was nice. i guess ive benn giving the fiero a better name in my area. alot more ppl have been pulling theres out and getting them going. hell i saved one from the junk yard by telling the guy its worth it to keep. i took him for a drive in mine.....he now has it torn apart with a new block sitting by it.
you dont know what you had till someone else is driving it home

The thing i have noticed is we all love the cars from our fathers time. There are many 70's and 80's muscle cars worth over 100k Today these valuations may increase slightly before they suddenly heavily drop. The values of these cars are high because of the fan base but because you loved your fathers car doesn't mean your grandson will. There are other cars presently which are of value but will become of great value. The ferrari testarossa is one of these cars not incredibly expensive today but i predict both this car and the lamborghini diablo and countach to really increase in value because we had them on our bedroom walls as a kid. The supercar will rightly overtake the muscle car for valuations. I believe the vintage car will stay steady at a valution far less than restoration costs as it presently is but their will always be an appeciation for the first cars. The vintage cars have more than halved value during my driving years as there are not in demand. The muscle cars keep up with the traffic and are useable that is why they reach good values. What i am getting at is we liked plastic supercars our fathers liked muscle cars and our grandfathers liked solid cars. Our kids will be influenced to like what we like so the fiero could see another generation of car lovers.

The chap I bought my Fiero off had a six year old daughter. When I handed over the cheque, the daughter was clutching his leg pleading, "Dad, don't sell the go fast car! Nooooo!"
She burst into tears... I felt really bad about it, until he handed me the keys
Otherwise the young kids around here keep asking me if it's an MR2, which always makes me laugh
I had a guy ask my what year and trim my eclipse was as he never saw one like this. I proceeded to snort coffee out my nose in dumbfounded shock. I don't recommend expelling hot coffee through the nostrils.
Yeah i had a fun experience with a group of teenagers a few weeks ago.. I was cruising down highway 43, and came up behind honda, i think it was an old accord.. Anyway, it had 4 teenage guys in it.. and the two in the back i guess saw (or heard) be come up behind them, and they turned around and started pointing at me trying to get the guys in the front too look, lol.. Then they just watched me for about 5 minutes.. There was an SUV in the lane next too us, so i couldent go around them.. I popped my headlights up and down, and the driver sped up a little, and moved over into the next lane for me, and i dropped it into 3rd and tore ass past them, lol.. I stopped at a gas station a few miles down the road and the guys saw me and pulled in.. three where 17, and one was 16.. Talked to them for about 10 minutes while i filled up.. They thought the car was really cool. Made me feel good, especially since i had just gotten my new suspension on and had it lowered. They didnt know what it was untill i told them.. They had heard of a Fiero before, but never seen one. Gave them a little "show" as i left the station..
12 years ago when i was in highschool, i used to pick up my friend for school every morning in my Fiero.. And every day at the other end of his street a group of kids would be waiting for the school bus.. And every morning they would all line up in the middle of the road as i came down so i would have to stop.. They would always tell me hello and they loved my car.. lol.. One time one of the boys even brought me a can of Pepsi..
Another time was really cute, and just happened yesterday. I was driving around my neighborhood, and there was a house with two boys playing in the front yard.. Looked about 10 or 12 years old.. As i started coming down the road, one of the kids jumped up and pointed at me, and the other quickly turned around.. Both of them waving and smiling at me as i slowly drove by (speed limit is 25) but i gunned it after i passed them too give them a little show, saw them in my rear view waving thier arms and clapping, lol.. Made me smile.

i was soo looking forward to getting my Fiero all pretty and swapping in a new engine and picking up my (ex)gf from the highschool. its aaaaaallllllllllll tuner idiots at East High and losers with cheapo stereos that do nothing but rattle the trunk (cept one car i saw....bass so deep ya could feel it thru the ground about 2 blocks away). so, i was looking forward to showing them a REAL car with REAL power and torque, how a REAL car sounds (no lame fart-cannons for me, thank you very much lol), not to mention what a top-grade stereo sounds like... im still tempted to drive by the school every now and them, just to see what people do.
i drove by the highschool nearer to me with a buddy, giving him a drive in my fiero, and he said every single person outside waiting for their bus home stared as we drove by lol. still waiting to get it in top shape tho....its pretty crappy as-is so most looks i get are probably for the wrong reasons lol
Mine was my 16th B-day present.. Im 32 now.. I always took REALLY good care of my fiero.. even when i was a teen.. STP gas treatment every fill-up. Changed oil every 2500 miles. Had 90k when i bought it.. And 16 years later it just ticked over 127k.. Still runs like a champ.. Take good care of your Fiero FieroDev, and you will have that car for a long long time..

I entered in a car show this past weekend and every young kid who would come up to the car would ask to see the lambo doors work or to sit in it. They totaly ignored the other fiero beside mine too! It made me feel pretty sweet to see their faces light up when i asked them if they wanted to try opening them.
I have noticed this as well. I get a lot of compliments from kids 7 - 14'ish
I figure by the time they hit 15 and up they get sucked in to what is cool, current and trendy.
not true...well..atleast the strong minded ones...i got a huge thumbs up from 20 kids or so on their bikes..had to be driing age gie or take couple years on either end. everyone loves it except for a few..aka older ppl stupid ppl or honda ppl...aka stupid ppl. if it wasn't for the fiero i would have had no intentions of driving an american car past 1981 ( this doesn't count some of the new muscle cars aka 2010s etc ). fiero is the best thing that has happened for american car culture imo past 81...clal it its saing grace

ive converted one of my younger sisters to loving the Fiero and she will probably inherit(for a small fee lol) my 85 Notchie but i absolutly love driving it(when its running) past the ele, entary and highschools down the road. all the Riceer kids in their talons and eclipses just look at it like wtf is that?? and being that i graduated from there with a rather *ahem* motorhead with too much money reputation i have to pull up and rev the Flowmaster i have on it for them to dream about later.
the kids at the emelentary and middle schools all freakout when they hear me coming in My Fiero and my Burban cuz they are just awsome to the under 16 range lol. Loud proud and agressive as hell!!!

My first 86 was a 16th B-day present as well (33 now). I loved that car. I went out of town for 2 months on summer vacation and come back to find out my mother had been driving it every day since I had been gone without checking the oil. ( It burned a little) Had at least a thrown rod, can't remember if it seized the block or not. I had left a sweet ride with a few eccentricities and came back to a paper weight with wheels. That my dad was in the process of getting towed off to the junk yard. As an apology they got me...... a chrystler new yorker. <gag..hurl> can you say devastating insult piled on grievous injury?
