Can you put a 215 65 r15 tire on the rear of a GT? i can find these tires a lot cheaper than at the 60 size. Thanks in advance. These are going on stock diamond spoke 15" rim.

you can put them on, but the tire diameter's difference may cause an issue with the speedometer readings.....

the higher aspect ratio changes your final drive ratio. I've seen them on a car and they frankly look dorky. They give you a tall final gear ratio, but your torque and streetlight performance will be pretty much negatively suffer.

If you want better performance, less strain on the drive train, and just as good gas mileage, go down, not up. Try a 15/55/195.

Your 205 - 60 - 15 tires have an OD of 24.7"

the correct size for the rear of your car if it came with 15" wheels is 215 - 60 - 15 which has an OD of 25.2"

The 215 - 65 - 15 has an OD of 26"

A 205 - 65 - 15 tire would have an OD of 25.5", close to what the car came with.
