wow......... well it was a new caliper.... six months ago...

well getting some shiny stuff...

i bought a new caliper, rotor, pad set, and new return springs then busted the bolt
that holds the bracket for the ebrake on the passenger side so cant use the springs
til tomorrow when ace hardware opens back up again.
ill get more pics to show tomorrow
i worked for hours on that old bolt then it broke.lol

Us Truckers call that shreded tire rubble "Gators" becouse they have a nasty bite when you hit them. They tend to play havoc on those air lines hanging under our trailer going to the trailer brakes.

How much driving did it take for that kind of damage to occur? Could you tell something was going on?

^^ if he was on the highway, that kind of damage could've been done in the time it'd take to stop...

Scary.

I bet you were driving with the handbrake on. There is no way rear brakes would heat up enough on their own. If you deny it is handbrake then you have no front brakes as again there is no way these could get this hot.

He already explained how it happened, but there are more ways for this to happen other than just "driving with the ebrake on." Ever had a stuck caliper or a collapsed hose? Same effect.

Check your hoses I had an 86 with a bad rear hose. Ive seen similar damage the inside of the hose swells much like having high chloresteral, pressure by passes but it never releases the pressure. Thus destroying your rear brakes on one side. Hoses run about 25 bucks I'd replace them especially since you have to pull the caliper anyway.
