It's the air testing. The plate is from my 3800SC car, and threw it on the car just for the show. (I flat-bedded it there in a snowstorm in January.)/ I qualified for the Hobbyist Plate because the car hit 20 years old, which means no emission testing... It cost $200, for life. And, I can get additional plates for each car I own.

When u got inspected did you just have state trooper do it or did you go to a smog place? we dont have to worry about it up here, seems its only down by you and in sheboygan county far as I know w the testing?

Nope, it doesn't need a Minnesota Viking bumper sticker. (good one!) And although that is a great idea, the horns on the Black Aldino are up front where they belong, behind the grille. Did I see a Green and Gold Packer Jacket in that picture above? (hehe).
I am glad to finally be meeting-up with you and comparing notes at this year's Wisconsin Dells Run. And, now that we've covered Sports, we might move on to Politics. We could reminisce about the good old days; back when your Governor could "beat-up" our Governor; maybe take him out with a single body-slam! (I love it!). Now that's Politics!
It is good that you and so many other "car people" are keeping the spirit alive and traveling great distances to events (parties) like the Dells Run. You're right. It's a neat hotel and very family-friendly. People come from all over! One guy drove up from Florida in his Fiero with a 454 big block. He stopped every 80 miles for gas...
Corvettes? Now that brings me back. I worked on many a Corvette during my old Excalibur Automobile Corporation days, back when I ran the paint department. I used to paint 'em. Fun Stuff! About half the employees drove Corvettes. Mostly, the other half drove Mustangs! It always made for interesting conversations.
Didn't need an inspection for the plates. No State Trooper, no Smog test. Just show me the money!! $200 for the first plate. Not sure how much for each additional plate As I recall, there were several ways to qualify. The car just needs to be over 20 years old, as far as I know. And, there was something about it being a "specialty" car. I think you can go on line to the Wisconsin DMV to check it out.
I like the look of it. At a glance, it reminds me of the old California black plate.

This kit is awesome. I saw it last year at the Dells Run as well and had no idea what it was! Very cool and I'm glad you're a member here!
As for the plates, its $150 for any additional. It must be 20 years old (or replicate a vehicle 20 years old) and you have to have at least one other car registered to yourself under regular plates.
seems like we have alot in common I currently run a paint department and do corvette restorations a old friend in the corvette club up here has a excalibur it is a verry pretty car.

Yup, I guess we do have a few things, like 'Vettes and Paint Jobs, ain common. Cool So, your buddy has an Excalibur. Is it a SERIES II ? I painted all the Series II's, (1969-1975) They're a lot like driving a Corvette and came stock with a 454, and Corvette suspension in them. Some, like Roy Orbison's had a special order, LS6 package;454 with a cam, and solid lifters and a 4 speed with heavy duty racing suspension. It was rated at 500 HP. These cars are very fast. and an Excalibur handles like a race-car, kind of like the Aldino.
I Feel GOOD! So did James Brown after I got done painting his car, and that dawned our favorite James Brown tune! (<-- yeah right). I did actually paint his car though. It was bright yellow with black fenders. The interior was shinny, yellow patent leather, and the roof and side-mount tire covers were black patent leather. It was pretty wild. Here's a pic of the one of the very last Excalibur Phaeton's I painted for the Company. This car beige and maroon was built for Dean Martin. Calico Hand-Painted Pinstripes of Neenah stripped it. Dean Martin didn't keep the car very long. He was getting up in years, and couldn't hack getting in and out of it.
Also, here's Roy Orbison sitting in his white Excalibur Roadster on the cover of of one of his CD's.. His first Excalibur was a Series I. It had a Studebaker frame, and came with a 350Hp 327 4 Speed. He traded this car in on a white Series II Roadster. I painted both of them.
Makes me tired just to think about it (he he).

I dont recall theirs being a convertible when I saw it, it apeared to be a solid roof it was all white with all tan leather interior. At the time we were adding nos in his new millenium yellow 2000 corvette convertible so it was just another toy of many toys in his garage I looked at it real quick but didnt really look it over well to find out specs on it. I lost touch w them in the past years since my divorce nice people tho. the one in the pic u posted seems shorter than his tho I wonder if its just the pic If I recall it seemed like the hood was longer but it has been few years since I saw the thing, ill look at google maby I can jog my memory.
