I am a new 84 Fiero owner, and I was told to change all of the sensors in the engine (FieroFury33). Could someone please tell me the name of all of the sensors? Thank you for all of the help in advance.

well dont change them all, but its a good Idea to get a diagnostic somewhere to see what sensors are bad on your engine, I'm no pro maybe someone that knows more than me can give you better advice. My dad had a diagnostic computer at his job with the 2.5 engine in it and it showed us exactly what sensors were bad. If your car is running smooth, idles high when cold then gradually quiets down when warm you should be OK.

I know that I will be changing the O2 sensor and the MAF senor (?) after speaking with someone. I also need to do a headlight repair but I will probably wait until the winter is over for that one. I still need to find a cheap and functional headlight actuator.

I thought that the headlight actuator was another name for the headlight motor?. Are the motors for the headlights interchangable on both sides or side specific?

AH thank you. I had a feeling that was the case. I wish the motors were not so expensive.

Speaking of new headlight motors being expensive- Does one need to buy a new motor if they use a headlight motor rebuild kit? (I know that may seem like a dumb question, but I am new to this)

What are your headlights doing or not doing? Depending on what you describe will help forum members offer proper advice. The motor may be fine but there could be something in the wiring, switch, gearing or housing that could be causing your problem. Once you have defined the problem then a solution is usually quick to follow. Don't be too eager to spend money until you know what's wrong.

I don't think your motor has a MAF sensor

Whatever you do don't buy a used headlight motor unless it has been rebuilt. Otherwise it is probably in worse shape than the one you already have. The rebuilt ones should last a long time.

If you get really frustrated you can upgrade to the second design but it's a bit of work. But the newer motor last longer between rebuilds and the rebuild itself is ridiculously easy.

When the driver side motor goes up, it doesn't stop going up (like the motor keeps on running), and then it will not go back down. Any ideas?

Thanks all! I love this site and this forum. I can not wait to start driving around in my mid-engine coup

Yes your motors are shot and need to be rebuilt. Either the limit switches are bad or the drive gear is stripped or both.

So what is the best motor rebuilt kit for the price?

Thanks!

Sounds like your plastic drive gear is stripped. I use the rebuild kit from Rodney Dickman:

http://rodneydickman.com/ca...h=32&products_id=230

In my opinion, these are the best rebuild kits. You can find rebuild kits cheaper but after years of messing with stripped plastic gears I finally bought the aluminum gears from Rodney.

Buddycraigg has been nice enough to put videos on youtube outlining how to rebuild your headlight motors:

Thank you for all of the advice. I do plan on purchasing the Rodney Dickman kit.

I have replaced the gear in both of my motors with the gear from Rodney. Very easy. I now have the limiter switch problem. Thanks to Nosferatu's post and Buddy Craigg's videos I will rebuild those.
