Evidently some time in the last couple weeks, my Fiero keys disappeared from my keychain. I was dumb enough to never make a copy of them too. I'm not too concerned about my door locks, they never worked to begin with. I know I can get a new ignition cylinder and trunklid cylinder from the Fiero Store, but I was just wondering if it's at all possible that GM only ran a few different cuts for the keys on Fieros or all of the GM cars in general. Also, what would be the easiest way to get my current trunklid cylinder out without causing any damage if I need to replace it?

Call a mobile locksmith.......they can make a blank and cut new keys for you on the spot without any damage for probably about 50 bucks! Been there done that!
I could probably do that too, but I'm trying to not spend too much. Being broke and in college really sucks. I'm in no rush to get it taken care of, it's parked out in the backyard until the snow melts, just looking for info/advice.

It's an 85. Can't say I have a key code at all, just the VIN. Any chance it would be listed in the service manual? I have one floating around here somewhere.
Do you have any gangsters in your area? Get one of them to utilize their skills and offer them a pack of cigarettes or something in exchange.

^that works too. I remember I had an ex girlfriend that was my girlfriend when I went to jail, she kept my keys to both my cars while I was in a 93 300zx, and a 92 Integra, I told her have my buddy drive the Z to my parents house and keep the integra to go to work and back. I get out about a month later unexpectedly and go over to her aunts where the car was sitting outside, I ask for her and they say she is out with some guy shes been seeing. Needless to say it was a honda and I was gone in 60 seconds with the proper "tool". Anyways I had to steal my own car back and drove around for a good month without a key.

I always thought that you could go to the dealer with a VIN and they could cut new ones or get them made. I think it would require you to have blanks though. I got a new set for my Beretta but I've yet to have them cut.
I never knew about a locksmith doing it. I mean it would only make sense of course. Hehe.

Lol, I've stayed low on the radar as of late. I'll probably swing by a stealership on one of my breaks from class and see what they can do.

Well you have your answer like any car of any year if you have the vin that is all you need. A skilled locksmith can easily make you a new key just playing with the barrel. Do not replace locks unless your upgrading to deadlocks.

I just try to avoid dealerships if I can for parts/help. Can't really afford it. Haha yea, I'm from Wisconsin. The Fiero's "Hibernating" under a foot or more of snow in my backyard. I lost the battle for getting the garage for the winter for two years in a row now

A chevy dealership made a key for me for an 86 I found in a junkyard that was locked. All they needed was the VIN and a quick call to the junkyard to prove ownership. It cost the same as making a copy from an actual key, about $5. They may make you show them the title with your name on it. Just hope nobody changed the locks over the years or you will be out the money.

If you're only worried about the ignition key, look at the local junkyards for another fiero with the ignition key in the column. Either take the whole column or take it apart and grab the tumbler & key. I had to replace mine last summer after feeling a snap on day while turning the car off. Plastic piece inside it broke and had a b!tch of a time trying to start the car after. Took it from a spare column, then found shortly after the local parts store sells new sets for $25 CDN

Call the locksmith. You won't save enough money any other way to make it worthwile not to.
Also GM dumped the key records for all cars prior to 96 or so. No dealer keys for our cars. Kind of irritating.
