Been looking to buy a Fiero in the last few months. Seems like lately, the prices have really jumped! Now I know people can "ask" for the sky and the moon, lol, and the "asking price" is not necessarily what these cars have been selling for, however, has anyone else noticed a recent jump in prices?

Yep. It's not really the best time to try and pick one up. A good time is typically during the summer, since a lot of them don't have working A/C anymore and people tend to look for cars with A/C around that time. Owners that won't want to fix A/C and that can lead to lower selling prices.

I always look for them in the dead of winter and my bargaining power is that they're real wheel drive and I don't want to drive it in snow. They don't need to know that I drive my 88 coupe daily rain snow or shine

I have noticed the same...a few years ago I couldnt sell my low miles 85GT that was in good condition for 1200. Now I dont think I could find the same car for under 2500. You just dont see alot for sale anymore on the forums...Craigslist and Autotrader have always had high asking prices, but the forums were always half off. If you wait long enough you eventually see a good deal, but they arent as numerous as before.

Excuse me, but there is not an infinite amount of these cars remaining. I see people on this forum parting out Fiero's like they are a dime a dozen. The price can/should only go up. I would never sell my Fiero's for less than $5000 anymore. The days of the $500 Fiero is gone, even if it's a piece of crap sitting in a field.

Sort of agree. I paid 'too much' for mine (from a buy here pay here lets screw you over dealer) but I'm really glad I did. The ones that are now available at the same price around here all have problems, like bad transmissions, missing engines... Mine has had it's share of smallish problems, and sometimes those are exacerbated by me, but the most expensive I've HAD to do so far is the Cat.
Now for the junkers in fields, those prices shouldn't be going up, they're still POS
What's really annoying is, now my girlfriend is looking to buy (around tax time arg) and is willing to get into an automatic fiero, leaving mine free to be modded, but they're way out of our price range
You have to look really hard. I have been really lucky when buying fieros my 1st one was a $500 fiero and i got about 6 months out of it after putting about $200 into it. Traded it away for a perfectley running 87 GT 5 speed. Ended up buying it back for $250 and it is now being parted out.
This was my nicest score. This car has a brand new engine transmission clutch suspension brakes and whatever else you can think of....... $1200
There out there. You just have to look hard enough.
