Does anyone know where the Center of Gravity is located on the different Fiero models, or any model for that matter? I think I have a good idea, but I'd like something more scientific than a good guess.
The Yat Ming is roughly the center of the gas tank. The various matchbox has a bit of a heavy behind And the 'glue-andpaint' types depend entirely on how you build them (You can add some putty or other material inside of it if you wish to change the COB...

Ill assume you mean different years and body models on real cars and not actual model cars / toys. I would guess that since all years are the same (except fastbacks) theyre CG is pretty much the same even with the fastback. A wing, rack, or sunroof wont affect much. The only thing Id see that would make one slightly different than other models would be between 4 cyl and 6 cyl engines, and even that wouldnt be that great a deal.

The center of gravity (fore-to-aft) is approximately where the jacking location is (for the jack that comes with the car). That's why they put it in that location. The actual center of gravity would be in the middle (side-to-side) at that location. Edit: That's for an empty car. If you put people in the car, it's going to shift that point forward.

On this forum, someone weighed (on all four corners) an 88 Formula with Getrag.
Front weight: 1280 lbs Rear weight: 1676 lbs
Wheelbase: 93.4"
With this, you can calculate the front/rear location of the CG.
As for left/right, I don't know. I would assume the middle... I don't remember the original thread where I found this info.
I read that the CG is 19.5" high off the ground (stock Fiero).
For different models, well manual dukes would have the CG the most forwards, and automatic V6s would have the CG most rearwards, and the other models somewhere in between. I doubt the bodywork has much significant difference...

If anything, the CG would be slightly more towards the drivers side, because of all the controls, and driver-related equipment. In the back, the engine is slightly right of the centerline of the car, so that helps to offset it a little.

When I had mine on a lift, the rear pads were just ahead of the cradle. We found out quickly that it was precariously balanced there. I happened to pull down on the back and little and it tilted down. Freaked me out. We repositioned the pads to the cradle.
From that I assumed the CG was in line with the seat backs (at least on my 86SE).
