My son called me this AM and said his 88 4 cylinder auto will not start. He has no spark and no fuel injector pulse. All fuses are good. He can hear the fuel pump kick on when he cycles the key. Car ran fine last night on the way down, and cranks over just fine.
He is a mechanic, but has no test equipment or service manuals and few tools with him.
I am thinking ECM or Ignition control module (under the coil packs).
Any help that can be afforded to him will be greatly appreciated. I am 4 hours away in Michigan and unable to help him much.
Please contact me by emails or PM, I can put you in contact with him.

Sounds like coil packs. I have an '88 Duke and carry an extra when I travel. There are a few member in Indy maybe they will see this and help out. I think the storm will keep most in though.
Good luck.

I called someone in Indianapolis. He is busy, but will check the site and see if he can maybe help out. He has some spare coil packs/ignition modules possibly.

Joe - You know I would go help out in a second but I'm further away then you are. Hopefully one of the Indy area people will see this and go to his aid. Good luck.

Where's he at? I have a 20ft roll on trailer and can go get him. I'm currently in New Palestine visiting the folks but I live just south of I465 along sr135.

Ayrow, Car is not alongside the road. He went to start it today where he spent the night and it would not fire.
Firebirdrestore, I am sending you a PM.
RickN, appreciate your offer, hopefully your services will not be needed.
By the way, my son that is broke down is the brother of theFredman here on Pennock's. If any of you went on the Fall Color Tour this year, theFredman helped organize the Tour and got the Tee shirts done. He had the red 86 bumper-pad car.
Thanks again,
Joe

Many thanks to Synthesis for his role in getting Bobby (RJ) aka fieroguy123 involved. It turns out that my son and Bobby know each other. The ICM and Crank sensor went bad, car is now running and mobility is restored.

Glad to hear this, just saw this thread. This weekend would not have been a good one for me to assist, had knee surgery about 10 days back and I'm still not much use other than whinning. But all seems to have worked out. I'm about 2.5 hours from Indy and have a tow dolly and transport trailer but that's about all I could have done (if that), being one legged sucks.
