Take a look at the Mera currently for sale on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-Fiero-MERA-Pontiac-Fiero-MERA-Ferrari-308-Replica_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a548b191fQQitemZ250526505247QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks). Be very careful if you are interested in purchasing it. It has so many discrepancies that I have significant doubt that it is even a MERA. The MERA serial number does not agree with the stated build number and I also see the following additional discrepancies based on a very quick look at the photos:

Mirrors are not correct power Vitaloni models
Power mirror is stock fiero and not a joystick
The rear quarter panel louvers are screwed on from the front in the pictures
The front deck lid is not original
The headlight covers are not correct
The car has F308 side markers
The rims are also not stock
Interior trim is not stock MERA or Fiero
I do not see a photo of the claimed build sticker

Nelson

Not a dumb question. I did not even know when I bought my Mera.

Along the black centerline indentation, there's a cutout (see the area annotated on this pic).

The door release handle was mounted on the inside of the door panel. Just stick your fingers into this hole, and you'll feel the handle, just push up with the fingertips.

As to the car on E-Bay, that MAY be a real Mera, he'd have to show the build tag. Has the same/similar tailights and reverse lights as a Mera. I figure if someone was going to do a nice kitcar 308 repro, then he'd use the carello amber light with the built-in reverse light. I think he may have replaced the mirror switch with a standard Fiero switch since he installed newer-style mirrors. Anyways, maybe Rodney might have some info on this car...looks like he has Rodney's front bumper setup and European shifter. He also needs to check his addition; if #8140, then he's actually # 228 out of 247.

It is a real Mera. It is Mera serial number 8140. Possibly had front end damage and they used kit car parts.

This is the guys response to my questions. I have asked for a picture of the MERA serial number tag, but he says that it is in the ad. I do not see it in the photos and I do not agree with his interpretation of the MERA build/serial number.

Hi Nelson, MERA build sticker is posted in ad. This car was the 52nd MERA built in 88, they had built 88 in 1987 so if you add 88+52=140 which is the built sticker number 8140. Hope that clears that up. Obviously, the MERA is not stock, most were quickly rebadged to look like Ferrari's. I bought the car basically as you see it. Thanks, Mike
