SO TRUE. And after watching Horsepower TV etc. - it seems everything they do is "buy a kit and bolt it on". EG: buying an Edelbrock S/C kit for a Mustang and bolting it on in an afternoon. No creativity there (someone has "done" the work for you). That's NOT "Hot Rodding" to me - that's just "installing bolt-on performance upgrades".

Meanwhile, with the Fiero, almost everything is "home grown". Sure, you may buy Archie's kit for example, BUT you still have a lot of your own work to do, to install a swap like that. Same with a 3800 S/C engine. And if you're doing anything else, you can really find that "you're on your own". Found that with my S/C GT and my SD4 Indy. Both are kinda "one offs".

I found that the performance shops here were totally lost (because it wasn't a Camaro, Mustang or Corvette) when I needed information/advice on anything.

The fiero has the spirit of hot roding going fast and customizng for less money. go get a 3800 sc or N* and adapt it in and there is not a whole big aftermaket backing just a few small guys like Archie and a few more

While I have a bias toward the Fiero, and I do hotrod my own Fiero, I must disagree.

The car most flexible in this regard is the Model T frame. The Model T has been rodded in the most diverse ways, and being front engine rear drive layout, has a far more diverse options available for the modifyer.

Just my .02

I wanted an Acura NSX. There were some nice kits and mods being done to them, but the car is expensive for its specs.

Then I wanted a Toyota MR2. They are nice and can be a deadly street car, but I could not find a forums site or any body kits for them at the time. Also, the only thing I knew was you can put a northstar in it. However, the guy who did that had a lot of work to do in order to achieve that feat.

I saw a lot of pontiac fiero notchback models and i never liked them. Then I found out there was a GT version. I was sold. IMHO, they are great looking, rare (because I have only seen 2 in southern california! although i know there is more out there), and I found a nice forums website called pennocks. Very easy to read, friendly people, and lots of modifications being done to the fiero. I think without this site, I would never know what I could do with a fiero.

I think pennocks inspires people to do something different to "wow" everyone. From 3800sc, northstar, old gen sbc, LSX series, big blocks, 2 hayabusa motors (i hope that guy continues to do that n the future), vr6 motor, bmw v8, etc, this site has it all down!
