We all have the 80's lambo/ferrari clunker style square 80s dash.
I am thinking something like my poor photoshop idea below

I am thinking the hard part and what makes it look so sweet is the stitching but i am going to ask my dad about that as he has a large embroidery co i might be able to swing some stitching but i might settle for what can be done with glue or staples for now.

Ok how to we do it paper machee? then cover in foam then leathette hmm doesnt have to be glass if you never see it.
Pehaps a sheet of masonite covered in foam like roof liner then leatherette. (dunno)
A fibreglass mould of a dash best out of a car or glass over a plastic lining to make a mould (best)
cover dash in glad wrap and use some filler foam and calve it up seems messy idea but shapable eeerr nah. (worst)
Glue foam directly to dash and cover in leatherette with some sort of 4mm ply to make an edge. (perhaps)
use all original dash vents etc

a nice custom

available on ebay dash overlays not for fiero of course we all want them so we can make a leather dash.

The dash in the 2nd pic isn't custom. It's from PISA.

I am currently recovering my roofliner in tan suede so far so good i have removed old foam off and glued on new foam will finish covering it soon but as i am going it is giving me the courage to try this. I have enough foam left over to try make a dash cover. I am going to use some masonite as will make it removable before i glue/tape it down to existing dash and have a go at cutting it out to sit flat. Where it doesnt sit flat make up the gap with the foam and cut in the vent covers and speaker covers i will be using some brown vinyl. If i get the materials i will get the stitching done before i start i think 3 stitches in a row should look ok.

Wasn't trying to "shame" you. Just letting you know that it was a production dash.

Wow you really have done a great job and given me more ideas after seeing yours i am asking myself why do i need to use my stock vents then thinking of maybe going all out like you i widebodied my car so i can handle a dash im sure. I have a lot on right now so it wont be an immediate start but i may do a little more than original idea now.
