Has anyone fitted racing or gt stripes to there fiero? I have a original paint 87 red/ silver car and am thinking about fitting silver racing stripes along the bonnet roof and deck lid/ spoiler. If any one could post there pics for me that would be great, so i can get a idea of what it looks like thanks

If you go to this web site http://www.fierosails.com/fierosecrets.html and go down on the left side the page and click on decals, then scroll down the page you will see different stripe kits on different Fieros. I think some are really cool. Hope this helps. Lynn
If memory serves me correct the racing stripe was used on track cars and was a single stripe on the right side of the hood. It was used for the driver to align the car as close to the outter sidewall of the track without hitting it. A curb feeler of sorts.
By the factory muscle car era "Olds 442" put a stripe on their hood. It wasn't long before stripes were put on both sides of the hood and even up over the roof, far from the drivers sight.
69 Dodge R/T and the Super Bee went as far as to wrap one around the tailend of the car thinking it was a bull ready for the rodeo. This must of raised the curosity of the true track drivers.
Personally I like the stripes even in the wrong place. Fieros seem to take the stripe pretty nice also.
Just my 2 cents,, sure somebody will chime in and add more.

Here is my 87gt This is one of the other local fieros alonside mine a couple of years back This one belongs to my friends Jeff and Deb
Man I love that black fiero and the blue one those cars look sick, I was never a fan of those lights but the cars do the lights justice, I wanna do my notchback in that style with the racing strips, Once I get a worthy enough paintjob Im gonna have jeff help me apply the strips hehe, I hope you and jeff don't think im a copy cat but I got to do my car like that.

Actually , i put the ones on for Jeff. I have done 4 stripe jobs now (3 fieros, 1 Trans Am). They really are not that bad to apply. The worst part is positioning them. It really helps to have a garage to do it in so that you won't have to contend with any wind. It's all a matter of patience in the whole process of striping them.

Im ordering 9" wide silver stripes with bonnet logo and a fiero racing windshield sticker from fiero sails, any advice or tips to help me with fitting would be great. How far under the rear wing do you stripe? I also dont want to stripe over the sunroof but am concerned about the sticker lifting at the edges, did you tuck the sticker under any rubbers or just stick them you down? Thanks

Patience is the biggest thing you have to have on this. Make sure the car is clean, and do the job in an area where the wind cannot kick up any dust and dirt. On mine, i did not tuck the decal under any thing. I have had my stripes on for 3 years, and have had no issues with the stripes lifting. Mine has the 8 inch wide stripes. I also suggest that you get some masking tape to hold the stripes in position once you got them where you want them, otherwise you run the risk of them moving, and being crooked. I think silver on a red car looks great, as i had originally striped my red Trans Am with silver stripes, but the silver stripes did not hold out under the Florida sun, so i re-striped it with white stripes. My advice about the silver is that you keep it in the shade as much as possible to keep it from discoloring, and drying out and becoming brittle..

I thought you were going to convert your notchie to a fastback ?
I was going to but as I looked at my fiero in the garage The notchback and black looks cool as well, So it's not really a priority anymore, I might one day do it, But right now my entire car is black and I can't afford to have it painted yet so it will remain like it is, Plus im busy doing other mods to it, I just re did the intercooler system to the car
