I was just looking at an ad for an '88 Formula SRO. It didn't say what the SRO was but it was stuck on there like some kind of special package that he was bragging about. I was thinking it might be the factory designation for "Formula" on the body sticker and therefore a true factory Formula and not a clone. Anybody know?

No. Factory RPO code for the Formula is Y66. That would be the only factory designation that shows you have a Formula.

It's likely something the seller was told at some point.

I see a lot of weird sales regarding Formulas, they seem to get listed as a lot of things other than just a straight up Formula.

Random codes get tacked onto the end for some reason, or they call them Formula GTs. I did see one sale for a Wide-Track Fiero Formula, he even had the codes that he decided designated it as Wide-Track.

I've seen a lot of Formula GTs too. Even worse are the Firebirds. It is almost impossible to do an eBay search for Firebird Formulas because everyone confuses and combines them with Trans Ams.

All Fieros are SRO when you have two seats and more want to ride in it.
