So Im looking for a new set of shoes for the 88 GT 3800 SC... and Im wanting something with a pretty good foot print... So I turned to my wheel shop - www.wheelmax.com and talked to one of the guys there.... He said TSW does staggered wheel sets.. and that a stock 88 GT - I could run 18x8's in the front and 18x9.5's in the rear - that is with a stock suspension....
heres the wheel....

Anyone running this size of wheel on an 88 with no mods? The website says if they dont fit - they will refund the money... and he said I could run a 245/40/18 tire with the rear... or even a 250/40/18...
Thoughts? Pics?
Thanks!

It all depends on the offset, but I feel it will stick out, I have a set of tsw's that are 18x9 and on stock 88 suspension I didn't have clearance issues with a 35mm offset, but the wheel stuck out 1/2"-3/4" wider than the fenders, which bothered me greatly but some people don't mind that look. I can only assume that the 18x9.5s will be even farther out or farther in, and with stock struts the spring perch is going to be close, but if the offset is still 35, then you will be adding 1/4" to inside and out side of what mine where, making them stick out even farther.

On a side note, most if not all tires come in increments of 10 on the 5's so 225, 235, 245, and so on. With a 9" rim I had 265's, with a 9.5" rim you should be able to squeeze 275's on there, and maybe bigger if you go with a big enough side wall.

Here is the link to the pictures of my car with my 18x9s

Hope this helps, Chris

*edit* Oh and if a 245 is big enough for you, you can fit it on a 8" rim, I now have 8" all the way around with 225/40/18 in the front, and 245/40/19 in the rear.
