It all depends on the offset, but I feel it will stick out, I have a set of tsw's that are 18x9 and on stock 88 suspension I didn't have clearance issues with a 35mm offset, but the wheel stuck out 1/2"-3/4" wider than the fenders, which bothered me greatly

but some people don't mind that look. I can only assume that the 18x9.5s will be even farther out or farther in, and with stock struts the spring perch is going to be close, but if the offset is still 35, then you will be adding 1/4" to inside and out side of what mine where, making them stick out even farther.
On a side note, most if not all tires come in increments of 10 on the 5's so 225, 235, 245, and so on. With a 9" rim I had 265's, with a 9.5" rim you should be able to squeeze 275's on there, and maybe bigger if you go with a big enough side wall.

*edit* Oh and if a 245 is big enough for you, you can fit it on a 8" rim, I now have 8" all the way around with 225/40/18 in the front, and 245/40/19 in the rear.
