U.S.Army 71-74 Ft Campbell ,KY Ft Gordon, GA Co.C 440th Sig BN, Darmstadt Germany 2 1/2 years. Nice place to visit. Seen alot of concerts and got to travel some. Went down the Rhien River in a raft from Switzerland, France along Germany. Holland was the nicest country to visit. Had a Fiat Otis (Lombardi) that I use to smoke Porsche 914, not bad for a 850 cc motor. Use to cruise the autobaun at 112mph all day long, that's all she would do and those Carreras would pass me like I was sitting still.

US Navy, Jan 1968 to Dec 1973. USS Ranger (CVA-61), 3 Vietnam cruises. I worked on air search radar equipment. I still have a unique souvenir of those days -- a pair of magnetron magnets out of a radar. Man, those are some STRONG magnets.

USN 1975 – 1998: It took me 22.5 years in the U.S. Navy to get me ready to teach Middle School.
75 – 83: Ten years as a Hospital Corpsman:
Transplantation Research, National Navel Medical Research Institute, Bethesda MD Hemo-dialysis technician, National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda MD Field Medic with 3/1 USMC, Camp Pendleton CA Naval reserve Surgical Team 116, Mpls, MN (In reserves while going to college for engineering as newly wed RN wife talks me out of nursing due to poor pay and crap schedules)
84 – 98: Twelve years as an Engineers Aide/Underwater Construction Diver: (I was compelled to go back on active duty before finishing engineering degree due to Beirut Marine barracks bombing in October of 83). Underwater Construction Team One, Little Creek, VA (all twelve years) In June of 85, one third of my unit was hijacking on TWA Flight 847. My friend Bob Stethem a diver that helped me into the construction diving program was murdered on this flight by the Hezbollah. I traveled extensively through out the world during this time; Must unique experience was living in a tent for six weeks on a moving ice flow 80 miles north of Greenland & diving under the ice.
I have an American flag in my classroom that was given to me when I retired from the Navy that flew over the USS Robert Stethem DDG-62 a ship named after my fallen shipmate. Don’t ask me how I feel about terrorism I think you can figure it out!
Side note: As a new teacher in 98 my wife worked part time as an RN and made over twice as much as I did as a new teacher (she still has a crap schedule). Sad if I wasn’t retired from the Navy I couldn’t afford to teach!
20 years army, 4 in the field artillery, 16 as a flight engineer on Chinooks and crash-hawks. 2 tours Germany, 2 tours central america, 1st Desert War. Spent all time stateside assigned at Ft. Bragg NC.

Please tell me you aren't teaching math. (Please take this as a joke, no offense intended here)
Well yes I do use a lot of math. Remember we are talking about the military here and it all depends on how you count active and or reserve time. The military adds up time served in an odd way. Side Note: My typo didn't help!
No Offense taken - If you can't laugh at yourself your too serious to be teaching middle school!

USAF from Oct 1967 to Nov 1971 as an aircraft electrican. Worked on ... C-47, C-124, C-130, C-151, B-66, B-52, Huey and the Sh_t Hook, that three tailed old TWA airliner (a spy thingy) F-102, F-104, F-4, and my favorite the F-105 Thunder Chief or "the lead sled" that gatling gun could throw a lot of lead and if the engine quits it glides like a lead brick. I think there where some other models in there maybe ... oh yea, a 2 seater set up like a Fiero, side be side, it had 2 engines and a bubble canopy. I want to say it was an AT-6 or something like that. Started at Lackland in TX., to Rantol IL., McConnell KS., Korat Thailand, Norton CA. The only things I learned the whole time was electricity really hurts and how to drink.
US ARMY 98-02 ALSO 04-06. INLCLUDING fort knox, fort drum, camp stanely, camp gary owen, fort gordon, fort dix, fort benning, multiple camps and bases in kuwait, tallil air force base, camp echo in BFE iraq. dual mos 35E and 63W. proudly have a bronze star for valor, 1 of 55 soldiers to be awarded a polish medal of excellence by the ambassador of poland to the US while in iraq, and multiple other medals.

April 15, 1969 - An unarmed Navy EC-121 reconnaissance aircraft based at NAS Atsugi Japan was shot down by North Korea, fighters. 30 sailors and 1 marine lost their lives. "Due to national security issues and secrecy surrounding the mission, little was released to the media and the incident has quickly faded from the headlines".
As need required, aerial reconnaissance was conducted in other areas of the world, including support to American forces in the Vietnam War. Some of these flights also resulted in downed aircraft and loss of life, e.g., the shootdown of the Navy EC-121 in the Sea of Japan on April 15, 1969, and loss of Army aircraft in Indochina.
The existence of the program was kept classified for decades. Although it became obvious that the Soviets knew about some aspects of the program, many key features remained secret from them. The decision to keep the program secret, though necessary, had unfortunate implications: it prevented public recognition for the veterans of the program as well as public honors for those who lost their lives while conducting aerial reconnaissance.
THE LOSSES
Aerial reconnaissance was dangerous. Of the 152 cryptologists who lost their lives during the Cold War, 64 were engaged in aerial reconnaissance.

hey guys. im still servin lol! i have til 2014 to decide if its a career or not. Most likely it will be. I am in the US Army btw (active duty) 6/6/06 (hehe) enlisted active duty. went to Fort Jackson, SC, for Boot camp 8/23/06 Fort Gordon, GA for AIT 5/1/07 Fort Hood, TX 11/9/08 Camp Buerhling, Kuwait 12/08 Fob Sykes, Iraq (tall' afar) right now.....................
i have 3 years of service. I re-upd' awhile back for 6 more years. I will either go airborne/ranger when i get home, or go special forces. If anybody is or has been in the SOCOM community i would like to hear from ya! I am leaning towards serving in SF for a career. I would like to become an officer and become a physician assistant as well. I want to be a drill sergeant too! I have lots of goals.
My mos is a 25N. I operate redcom pbx, promina, callmanager, cisco routers, juniper switches, and comsec stuff. * Install, initialize, operate and perform field level maintenance on electronic nodal assemblages, combat net radios, and ancillary communications equipment * Use computers and software tools to perform system/network operations * Interpret system and equipment error codes to correct system faults * Install, operate, maintain, perform maintenance and unit level maintenance on all internal communications systems and COMSEC devices * Execute the installation, operation, PMCS and field level maintenance on numerous network management systems
It is good stuff, but it does get boring. My civilian job dealt with cisco callmanager networks and it was more exciting than my current job in the Army. Good job experience I guess. I want something more though.
IF anybody is a physician assistant and or SF soldier pm me plz! i have simple questions to ask. thanks
