bought a 84 fiero seat with speakers, and turned it into my new computer chair. someone told me i would need an amp, but it works without one on comp, not as loud as comp but decent.

Looks good! My next computer chair will mate the swivel base of a "normal" computer/desk chair with a Fiero seat. I need/want to be able to move the chair around. I've seen it done before (here) but yours is a bit different (at least the base). How much did it cost you, total? And what's the base made of? Wood?
They also work nice for video game seats, I used an old 84 seat a few years back and built up a base and some brackets to mount the steering wheel, gas and brake pedals for my kids PS2. It made video game racing a little more realistic and a lot more fun. I know have to rebuild it to sit a little higher to lign up with the 46" LCD TV I bought for the kids and the PS3 should make it even better. Dan
I have two pair of seats just sitting around. I will eventually turn into movie/game chairs as well. You know the game chairs at Wal-Mart that rock and have the speakers in them.....thats kind of how I will build mine.

I have a couple of Celica GTS seats I wanted to do this to, but wouldn't the standard computer chair base let it tip over real easy? Can't say I've tried it, but it just looks a bit freaky.. I thought of maybe adding more weight to the base to keep it stable.. But is it needed?

My computer chair, it doesn't have speakers but it is more comfortable then the one I had.
heh, i like that. A LOT. could you provide some details on how you fit the swivel wheel base to the chair? i may just hafta snag a seat from the junkyard next time i find one. Pully-Parts seems to have 84/85 fieros there. never really seen any others than that tho.

Thick wooden base, drill a hole in the center (or maybe a bit forward of center to keep from tipping over) and a clamp. Voila!
Once I get some dough, I might go boneyard shopping and look for two seats. One for an office chair and the other for a floor rocker as kyunderdawg suggested. Hmmm.......

I cut a 3/8 piece of plywood the same size as the bottom of the seat. Centered the four bolts and then mounted the bottom of a cheap walmart chair in the center of that. Its very stable and doesn't tip at all. I have it reclined 2 clicks from the full upright position and can go two more back before it feels unbalanced.
