I have attended a few landspeed events in the past with my WS6 Formula Firebird, mostly for fun (and the chance to legally run 160) The Texas Mile is where I like to go. They have very liberal safety standards there as opposed to Salt flats or ECTA runs in NC. (only have to have a cage for speeds over 190 in Texas). Anyway, the fastest I have ever gone in a Fiero was 140 with my old 3800 SC GT coming back from Las Vegas FieroRama IIRC in 2003. It seemed to be fine at that speed with the only mod other than the engine being hood vents. I plan on taking one of my current Fieros to TTM in the Fall for some high speed runs.
Question:
Anyone done any 160+ runs? Or will these be first attempts? I am concerned with using the OEM type hub assemblies, which I'm running the rear type on both the front and the rear of the car with custom uprights. Anyone have suggestions for upgrades in these areas or should I be concerned?
I'll probably get hounded by select members for this, but I wanted to consult the Forum for any helpful advice for something I may be missing before proceding.
Thanks

I've been over 160 in a friend's turboed N* Fiero. Being such a short wheel base, the car is rather unstable, despite the amount of venting up front and out the back. Needs more downforce. A small amount of courage and a large amount of safety equipment helped out. Stock hubs and bearings took it well. They were replaced after the run, as well as the brakes just to be sure for the trip back home. Any questions just ask. Keep it safe, don't want to hear about any accidents...

Who is your N* friend? I have an 86 N* fiero and PBJs turbo N* kit. I didn't know anybody else had turboed a N* fiero.

You said the bearings were replaced after the run, do you recall if the old hubs were dragging, making any noises, or discolored after the run?
Can any engineers or techs chime in on this. Do the Fiero sealed bearings have maximum RPM limits that would be exceded in 160+ runs.

BTW, thanks for the input on downforce, topher_time, I have a few tricks up my sleeve in that area.
