Just wondering if anyone has done this before.
Its an 85GT, Prev owner put in Mr. mikes leather seats without speaker holes and left the seat speakers in there. (I have no idea why)
So of course, the sound is muffled.

What do you guys reccomend? Small drill bit and drill? Is there some kind of hole punch i can use? I dont want to damage these seats.
Also, if anybody can post an up close pic of the speaker headrests and holes so I could see exactly how they look that might be helpfull too.

Thanks

Just Email Mr. Mike and ask him what is best or what they use.
They are very friendly and helpful.

One would expect to use a leather punch for such an application to get nice clean holes, a drill bit would leave clingons. But, that would also require you to skin the seats. Gotta have access to both sides with all the leather punches I've ever seen. Could be done but it would be a pain. Someone else probably has a better plan.

OK I emailed him.
Just figured I'd see if anyone on here had to do this before.

Mr. Mike is a great guy, I have the pleasure of living very close to him and have visited his shop before. I know shipping would be painful both ways but if you ask politely he might be able to punch them for a little cheaper than the $29 advertised on his website. If not, your out 30 bucks plus shipping and have factory looking holes. I would suspect to do it yourself you would want to remove the covers anyway, but drilling them just sounds messy. IMHO I would leave it to the pros. As you stated you dont want to mess the seats up and taking a drill bit or punch yourself without practice on a several hundred dollar seat cover is risky at best.

well...the email from Mr Mike says it is impossible.

"It is not possible to add speaker holes after the seats have been made."
"A drill would not work, it will ruin the seats."

He's the expert...Guess i'll just have to live with it.

Thanks for your input everyone.

You will need to remove the covers to put the holes in. You need a leather punch set and will have to set up each hole individually to punch them out. Here is a link to a set that should work. You could use a piece of flat wood under the leather to help punch the holes out.
