I am doing a 4.9 swap and I was looking at something to get more air through the radiator. I was looking at one of Archie's Warbor hoods but he doesn't seem to have them stocked... So I want to see what other people have done... I would also like to see people are doing to their decklids too!

No pics yet, but I'm doing a modified (I'm Madcurl'ing it) version of Fieroaddiction's extractor.

I like the smooth look of the warber style. You can build one yourself that looks very similar to the warber. Just mark the outline and location on your hood. Take a skil saw and carefully cut along the lines. When you cut the outline, you will cut into the inner skin between the hinge supports. Separate that inner skin and save it to cut the side filler pieces. All you have to do, is bend the outer skin inward about 2 inches and then trace the outline of the side onto that inner skin piece you saved. Glue those to the skin with Lord brand Fusor #114 adhesive and you have yourself a warber style hood. I run a 350 sb in my car and that vent lets out plenty of hot air from the radiator. I just couldn't afford the shipping on a hood from Archie's shop to Oregon, so had to try this method.

The stock Fiero rad does a pretty good job. Plenty of 4.9's are out there with the stock setup.

I found that venting the engine bay was a bigger issue. The side quarter panel vents work well, but, I went with a powered intake scoop with a Derale fan management system. Enjoy

Heres a note on fans: most fans are not really weather-prof! Make that waterprof, if you mount yours where it will see say, out in the open on top a vent, where it will get a lot of rain directly on top you need to put some type dish on the top, else water will get inside. I had to throw one $100+ fan away thus far. I put top cover on the replacement but it wasent big enough! I was able to take it apart and polish the armiture and make it work fine again. Still have to replace the burnt out switch for it. It now has a much larger top, I'll post a picture soon.

Exactly correct. My experience also except Hayden was willing to take mine back under warranty and try to engineer a solution with no success.

Dave's like mine started as a corvette scoop. We cut 4" out of the middle to get rid of that indentation and to make it narrower. For me I was trying to simulate the Chevelle SS Cowl scoop, which I have always liked going back to when I owned a 70 SS.

If you look at the pictures I have above, you can see where I made a mark along the hood on how much I wanted to cut out. I thought I had a picture of the underside after I finished, but I don’t. The scoop is fully functional to keep the air pressure down under the hood at higher speeds. When the fan comes on I can stick my hand up through the T-Top opening and feel the hot air from the radiator.

HI all

I believe he is talking about the vent behind the window on the decklid...... Was gonna look through his thread to find out myself, so i'll post it here if I find out.......

edit to add: The answer lies on the first page of skitime's build thread, it was what I thought it to be.... Modded fiero vents, the ones of course found beside the deckllid.......

Thank you for your research, but they look unmodified though? Does he describe how it was done?
