But is that quote from the convertor or their prefered engineer? I am betting it is.

That's from a Miata forum that I joined that has many V8 members, some of which are still driving their professionally converted in-the-90's cars. And sure, just like PFF, there's a large section of the forum that disapproves of "ruining such a 'perfect' car" by putting a V8 into them (because they're so well balanced from the factory blah blah blah) but even from the "Miatas are perfect just the way they are" crowd I've not heard one word about how the cars were overly stressed by putting a V8 into them.

Reference the last post. Some of the on the Monsters are masive HP+ superchargers. No one has found the body
to be a problem over years of abuse on the track. Drive the car to the track flog it for 2 days and drive home.

Just came back from the scales

Right Front / Left Rear 50.1%
Left Front / Right Rear 49.9%

56% Front Weight
44% Rear Weight

Above was done with 200 Lbs driver weight (2700 lbs)
2,500 Lbs empty weight.

That's impressive! Your using a cast iron block right? With an LS motor the weight distribution has to be really close to even. I like how light your car is, even with the V8.

Here is my Monster Miata

Had it since 1993 when it was built. I worked at Monster Motorsports during 93. The cars are only "unbalanced" with those that don't know how to drive them. I have been driving mine for many years and know its capabilities and limitations quite well. I have sprinted through many twisting mountain roads here in southern CA with cars many would consider "more balanced" and many have had a tough time keeping up. And I mean on the curves not just on the straights. Every car handles different after all, just have to learn how each one behaves and avoid the temptation of laying on the throttle at all times. No matter how tempting it may be.

It has been a while since mine has been on scales, but I think the above numbers are right around where mine is too, 51/49

No sh?? that's your car? I used that video in my Monster Miata post over it T/OT. We saw the Fieros in the background and we were trying to figure out if it was a PFF'er. Nice car you've got, I'm using your video as inspiration!

You too DC88fiero, I'd love to see a video of yours too!

Haha, thanks for the compliments. glad you like the video. If you need any info, pics or videos of other areas of the car, when i get some free time I can try and take some if you like.

they are definately fun to drive. It is the closest you will get to the feel of driving oh, something akin to a nuclear powered Tic Tac.

Also, as far as the miata not being strong enough chassis wise to hold a V8. I crack up every time i hear that.

I have, been punishing my V8 miata since 1993 and it is still as strong as the day it was bought new. It does not flex or twist or have any stress cracks. All the body panels and doors line up perfectly and have never been adjusted. Other Monster Miata owners I have met have been track coursing theirs for years and have never had any chassis issues. Some of them are owners of the Kenny Bell S/C 400+ hp versions.

My first drive today was about 20 miles. Driving inpressions. Very fast, balanced and the suspension was great all in all a great ride. The exhaust was low and rumbley, nice lope sitting at a light. The shifter was very impressive a little tight but I could feel the difference from the first start up to parking the car. The motor ran great. We had a data logger on the motor and everything checked out great.

The weigh-in was done with a 200 Lbs driver weight at2700 lbs
2,500 Lbs empty weight and 56% front and 44% rear and that was with only one gallon of gas in the tank.

Fiero Monkey,

Great looking car. It's nice to hear that you have been flogging your car without problems. I had heard that this was done

Please describe what you have done to your car to lighten up the front end. See my build at

Jonnyrottin, Enjoy your new 4.9, Nice car by the way, The 4.9 in the Fiero is a blast to drive.

Each of us have our own likes and dislikes. I thought that when I posted this on this Fiero Forum
that childish and stupid judgements and coments would be throw about as if they where fact.

This posting was done to show my fellow Fieroits that I am finding more than one whay to enjoy my car hobby and
I was wanting to share my experience with you. Not hear say, or some "fact that must be true "they will fall apart because you put a V8 in it" ( for how many years have we heard that about a v8 in a Fiero). Not based on FACT but on "feeling"

I was hoping that with the many different styles of Fiero's and the different builds and variations, each in their own way, a creation of the owner that a comparison of our unique car to somethin else would be intresting. I guess not. Close Mind.
