Thinking of ordering the 25th Anniversary Book to give as a Christmas gift. Since the Doodledoll store is out of the original order I'm looking to order directly from the publisher, however once you add on the $9.78 shipping it's almost $60 in hardcover. Has anyone ordered the $34.95 softcover version? What's the quality like? Are the pages themselves the same quality as the hardcover edition?

The deadline to order is Tuesday for delivery by Christmas.....so inquiring minds need to know.

Thanks,
Ken S.

Yes the softcover inner pages are the same. BUT the softcover is thinner. I have a different book we published in a softcover from that same publisher and It's Ok as a softcover goes. Not as impressive as the hardcover.

I really wished I could sell the books cheaper. But no publisher will sell for less than that unless thousands are ordered at a time.

I hope you make a profit on every book that's sold.. You really went to a lot of work to make them happen.

It's a Book that is a photo collection of the 25th anniversary in Pontiac MI. If you were there or not there. it and the Companion DVD are a must have.

But then, I'm a bit biased

DL10: Not really making anything off the book as I did not want the price to go higher that it already was being such a short run. I was more interested in getting the book out there for everyone.

We has such a great time at the 25th even though we were running around and working the entire time.

Since Tim is biased I'll say it....

This book AND video are must haves for the Fiero nut. Period. I have watched the video several times continue to enjoy every minute of it. It's the combination that really paints a accurate picture of what it was like to be there.

That's just not right............you should get at least 5 or 10% of every book sold. They wouldn't be selling any books without the work you did.

I would love to, but even a big time author only get's a max of $1.00 a book sold.
I do not want to make it more than the $50.00 selling price. It's already hard enough to get people to buy them with the economy going into the toilet.

That's the problem with doing a very small run and self publishing. The Book ends up very expensive and you need to cut the profits to make the book affordable.

Plus, My payment is everyone that is loving the book. My wife feels like a rockstar because of everyone's comments. She did most of the editing of the book and a lot of photos in there.

I've got time to find a publishing house to possibly buy the book for the 30th so I can have it at a lower price and a larger run. A publishing house will back printing 100,000 copies to make it $19.95 and can get it in Barnes and Noble and Borders.

Now the DVD I actually makes some money on After I sell 100 copies to pay back my equipment and labor expenses from the 25th. I need to figure out how to get the word out to more of the Fiero owners out there so that sales pick up. There are only 50 people out there with a DVD in hand as of today. Although on the bright side it seems that I have a fresh order in the store waiting for me to ship it tomorrow.

I am also giving $1.00 from each sale of a DVD to the Michigan Fiero club and will be giving $0.25 of every sale to Cliff's Beer fund.
