Anyone using these Hedan Red Hot Tips? I just bought a set of #17104 dual tips off of Amazon. com. I was wondering how these changed the exhaust tone/level. Does the packing blow out? I can't find any reviews online, and I don't think I have seen any threads about them.
Nick
BTW, Amazon has these tips for $16.02 a piece, with free shipping. Mine are coming today.

$16 a piece, boy did I ever get ripped. Are these the resonator version? Those sell for 55 from Jegs or Summit.
Man that's a great price!
Anyway, I've got 3500 miles on mine so far and I love them. They're toning down a 3800sc conversion with a Spintek muffler. Very little cabin noise, but sound awesome out back!
you'll love them.

I can order them, and ship them to you if you really want... It would cost extra to ship to you, but I wouldn't want anything extra. Let me know if you want to. Nick

hey, so did you install them yet? I might take you up on your offer if they sound good. Are you running a stock 2.8, or modified?? Any mods to your exhaust?

I got them installed, and they definitely smoothed out the exhaust tone. I have a 3.4 dohc, full madrel bends. It only effected the volume a little, but it definitely made it sound smoother, and helped eliminate the raspy sound. You can order them, and have them shipped to me if you want. It gives you free tracking, so you will know when I get them, and I can have them out to you in the next day or two after I get them. Nick

Those Heddman Hot Tips on Amazon are 2 1/4" ID in as stated in the ad. I use 2 1/2" in and dual 2 1/2" out and you may want to go with this size on an engine swap. The Hot Tips on my 3800SC are of good quality, fit well, look like they belong and reduce the noise, if only by only a small amount. I paid about $50 each which is about what they sell for on eBay and at Summit Racing Equipment!! A good rule of thumb is to not reply on any resonator for any significant amount of noise reduction. They only enhance the sound suppression capabilities of your muffler take a bit off the loud edge.

its not the loudness im trying to get rid of, its the raspiness of a 2.8 with no cat. converter. Its not that bad, so any bit helps, which is why im wondering how they look more than how much they change the tone.

I wish I had gotten a picture, but the car is located at my parents house (30 miles away, I am at college) They look EXCELLENT. My only complaint is that they are a bit small for the openings in the GT rear bumper, but this is solely my opinion, if you like a stock, yet modified look, they are perfect. I just really like the look of big tips. If you are using a coupe rear bumper, these would flow absolutely beautifully. I held them in place on my other coupe, and they fit the opening wonderfully. I really do recommend getting these tips. These worked perfectly for me on my swap because my muffler was 2 1/2 inlet, 2 1/4 outlet. I really like how they look on the car. If you are using stock exhaust, you may need to get adapters. Please let me know what you want to do.

We put Hedman red tips on Miss Deb's 4.9 car along with a generic flowmaster style one in two out muffler. The sound is wonderful. The tips however, deteriorate quickly as far as looks go. Ours have become very dull and have surface rust. The red color fades as well.
