Arn,

Could we maybe start a post with the list of what is needed all on one post for the rear, like what rotors, calipers, bracket from DPWood, and what ever else is needed from what and what year

And also you said you had Grand Am up front to, what are you using there and what is needed for that also.

Thank you for your help in keeping our little cars safe

We're recommending Rockauto as the most economical source for the calipers. Also, you'll want to order them fully loaded.

Hope this helps.

The Grand Am conversion for the front has alot of threads on the subject already. I believe mine are '89 compatible calipers and rotors on the front. This thread is to deal with the ebrake issue only. I should add that IMHO the Blazer Booster is very desirable to make this all work well but that is debated in other threads also.

The rear are '85 Seville/Eldorado calipers with front '89 Grand Am rotors. You will want the OE cables or ones as long.

PM DPWood for the brackets
RockAuto for Fully Loaded calipers
www.FieroDave.com for OE cables.

Hope this helps

I finally have an answer for the Pontiac 6000 cable. The Fiero cables work, however, the drivers side is a little too short IMHO.

In consultation with a few folks, who I thank, the answer seemed to be the Pontiac 6000 drivers side cable. The passenger side 6000 cable is shorter than the Fiero passenger side cable. I found I wanted to leave the Fiero OE passenger side cable on.

Here is the Pontiac 6000 cable. Notice the spring. To make it work you have to shorten the spring. I used a Dremel cutting wheel to score each side of the coils and then broke them off to the desired length.

It fits like this

The hookup looks like this

The passenger side cable looks like this

I am going to place a technical thread in the Tech Forum side and do a recap of everything, including parts etc.

You need to contact DPWood here on the forum. He makes them as required.

Holy crap, those Caddy calipers are expensive! Advance Auto has them (loaded) for about $109 plus $30 core apiece. And Autozone has a loaded pair for $206 plus $68 core. Looks like it's time to start cruising the salvage yards again.

Order them from RockAuto. Your local auto supply place, regardless of the affiliation will be getting GM parts. RockAuto is way less. FYI

Arn

Pyrthian, there is a range of years and it includes the Eldorado, Toronada, Seville, and another one too. But, play it safe and ask for the '85 Seville.

What's the story on the arm on the back of the caliper? RockAuto pictures a caliper with shaft and nut but not the arm.

The fully loaded calipers have the arm. You have to scan down the page some.

You want the A-1 Cardone with the installation hardware and pad.

Return them. The Rockauto set comes with arms. I wouldn't accept the Autozone story.

Maybe I missed it someplace, but what is rock auto charging for the calipers. (I am rushing out the door and don't have time to look it up myself.) However I did post a link to this thread on the West Coast Fiero's mailing list. We are going to love this conversion and will have DP really busy making brackets.

Just for the heck of it, I ran the p/n for an '85 seville rear caliper (slc242) through an online database, it came back with all the following using the same one!

BUICK (24) 1979-1985
RIVIERA (24) 1979-1985

CADILLAC (35) 1979-1985
ELDORADO (17) 1979-1985
FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM(FWD) (2) 1985-1985
FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM(RWD) (1) 1985-1985
SEVILLE (15) 1980-1985

OLDSMOBILE (20) 1979-1985
TORONADO (20) 1979-1985

Few more (possible! I take no responsibility for it's accuracy) options, anyhow.

So how different would these be from 92 seville STS?

I saw some at the junkyard and was thinking about trying to do a conversion. I may get them anyways and see what I can do with them.

If you go to Rockauto's website, they have pics of them. I'd say just look at the pics and you'll see. We did not try the newer style because the older style works. Essentially, the 80's technology often does not bolt up to the 90's technology.

Arn/DPWOOD

I have been trying to get hold of you guys for a week now through IM/text to DPWOOD on here as well as through email and got no response.

I also just called Archie @ www.v8archie.com at the suggestion of the other members and wanted to alert everyone of the following:

He does sell the adapters for the rear Caddy Seville/Eldorado Brake Calipers, but for use on Lebaron 11" rotors.

I'm using 91 Grand Am Front rotors (9-3/4" od) to fit my Countach Replica 15" wheels.

I'm stuck here without these adapters

Dave, I got your cc on your email, but I don't fabricate them.

Dave does the fabrication and he isn't always on his email.
