And wondering how much the kit is worth? A local has goofed up on a V8 swap in some way, and wants to dump the car for a decent price. I have a few people looking for clean rollers for 3800 swaps, and this is a nice gold 85gt with a "built" auto (yea, no idea what that means either). It has a nice looking TPI, that also has the "built" description, but I figure that might be worth something in either my sandrail or on craigslist.
So if you wanted to buy a 100% archie master kit used, what would you pay?
"Kit" implies that the installer has a degree of skill to use all the parts correctly and make the right decisons when it comes to assembly. I would imagine that there are a number of Archie kits that people attempted to install but finished them due to one problem or another and many times they turn around and blame Archie. The responsibility of any kit being successfuly installed is up to the installer not the manufacturer. As to what a partially completed V8 Fiero is worth; just go to Archies website and take a look at the prices of his kits then add some for the engine, trans and the car itself. Then decide what its worth to you to finish up.

I had 4 'super built up' T125 autos in my 383 v8 car. They each lasted for 1,000 miles or 1 month. Never got to a drag strip. These were all professionally built trannys from a shop specializing in drag racing automatics. They routinely build them for 500-600 hp street/ drag cars. Make sure its got a later updated tranny or go to a stick. None of the problems were with Archies kit. Trannys simply disintegrated internally each time.

Not to highjack the post but my 3.4L ran a beefed up TH-125H for several years and I can't tell you how many times I stomped on it Now a turbocharged 3.4L is not a 383 torque monster but I ran that trans hard and never the slightest problem. All it had was a lengthened clutch pak, shift kit, high stall torque converter and it ran a higher line pressure. Built ptoperly a TH-125H is very strong. One of Archies customers ran in the high tens with a V8 drag only Fiero using a large shot of nitrous and slicks to boot and the trans survived several racing seasons. The shop that "built" your TH-125H trans, sounds like it was not familiar with its design,

Archie's website has itemized lists of what comes with his kits. His Master Kit includes a lot of parts you'd probably want to replace anyway, like flywheel bolts, hoses and hose clamps, oil filter, fuel line, heater hose, etc. Not to mention clutch and pressure plate, on a stick. Even the Economy Kit includes miscellaneous hardware. It's not like you're going to take the engine mount, adapter plate and flywheel and say you've got a Master Kit for sale.
Itemize up the parts in your kit and see what you're actually selling, then price accordingly. I doubt I'd give more than half retail price for a used kit, and that's if it included all the same parts - less if it was incomplete.

I am fairly sure its complete, and everything looks new to me such as hoses and such. Its never been ran, its a TPI motor, and the buy has no idea what fuel injection even is.

It sounds like you may have a shot at owning a sbc v-8 car for a change... Let me know if you need any more advice... Chuck BTW...Why did you run away from me when i tried to talk to you at the 25th? I just wanted to check out your car... It ran well at the strip the day before i got to the show...

I never got a chance to talk to you about your car being there was always someone else there when I came buy. I can say that your car in is one of my favorite cars out there and looks great. The one thing I was wondering about is the heat exchanger and how it gets the flow thru the trunk. I though I overheard someone saying somthing about ducting in both corners of the trunks.

I stood around for awhile waiting for you to get done chatting, as I didnt want to interrupt, but Kurt gave me a call and I got sidetracked after that.

I got a fairly good look, there were holes in the trunk, and some little air flow places to help it get through
