Some stuff I got was cost me double their catalog price and still cheaper than a local supplier for a USA made product. It included S&H, duty, brokerage and applied taxes like GST. So, I take it no one can confirm RockAuto's costs? Thx. |

JEGs only ships UPS - found out that "hard way". Even with UPS Expedited which is supposed to include all brokerage fees, taxes etc, I still got nailed another $12 at the door. They were pretty good though. I brought it to their attention and they refinded me the "extra" fee UPS charged once I sent in the "bill" and copy of my payment.
Get your stuff from
www.summitracing.com and have it sent by USPS MAIL. You won't get stuck with UPS brokerage fees (save yourself $40). I got even large items like mufflers through the mail from them.
It's been a while since I got Rockauto stuff, but I don't recall paying and fees at the door, but that may have been because the order was only $30 or so and Customs didn't bother with it to collect the GST. If you're ordering parts worth $100's - they will want that tax.
Generally, if your parts come by ANY carrier other than through the mail, they'll have "brokerage fees" to collect the GST. Post Office only charges $5 +GST.
Another thing: UPS, Fed-Ex etc all deliver during "business hours" - when I'm at work. It's a real pain to get it redirected to "Customer Pickup" - THEN I have to drive to the far side of town to get it. Takes 2-3 days to get this sorted out. With Mail, I get a card in mailbox and can pick it up at my local Post Office down the street that evening. Much more convenient.
