My fiero is starting to fade and oxidize in places, it's not really bad but i would like to know if there is anything i can do about it. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what prolongs the life of the paint. I plan on getting it painted in the future, but i want to keep it looking as good as possible until that time comes. My car is red, and i have heard from some paint people that red is one of the most prone colors to fading. I keep it washed and waxed. I usually use 3M rubbing compound and Mothers paste wax, and Mothers showtime after that. For the most part it looks really great, but when you look at a couple places on the hood, roof and decklid, you can see so haze and faded look. Do any of those "miracle waxes" or whatever really do anything? I've considered picking up a bottle of this stuff:

but i don't know. I just read the reviews on their page and it seems that a lot of people really like it and said that it worked great. Anyone have any personal experience restoring some oxidized/faded areas? Thanks

I haven't used that particular product. I know that Meguiars has some cleaning compounds that cut through oxidation and atmospheric crud pretty well.

The regular #1 swirl remover is pretty good, but you can go down the line to various cut strengths and I like the 4 out of 10 compound myself. It has about as much abrasive as toothpaste. Hope this helps

Meguires Cleaner Wax is really good for taking off oxidation... depending on how bad it is of course. but ive tried it on several colour cars including, black, white and metallic tan and it works great on all . White is particulary high maintenance because it often starts to turn brown. After using that on the white car i did the difference was like night and day. id definatly recommend that stuff.

I am a big fan of putting meguiar's on my 88 gt. But let me tell you, i recently used the clay bar kit through (found at wal-mart) and it worked wonders on the paint. After claying, put a nice coat of polish and wax; wow what a difference in the feeling of the paint, soft and smooooth

That Color X seems OK. I tried it on a few cars and it brought out a little deeper color. Faded clearcoat has no cheap fix though. You might try Turtle Wax Ice. It leaves a sort of oily finish that may help cover it up. Why I really like it is it dont leave any white residue in cracks, emblems, etc and dont affect plastic and rubber parts. If you want to get the oily fnish completely off, it take quite a bit of polishing though.
