the fiero name has been explained several times, but i've never heard an explaination for calling a mera by it's name.

i don't know why this popped into my head. i was out running errands and thinking about checking out a junkyard when it did, or maybe from a thread i had read earlier, who knows (even one side of my brain thinks the other side is crazy).

so is there anything to why it was chosen? what came to me was a play on the spelling "mirror", like a mirror image of a 308.

satisfy my curiousity please. thanks.

Mera Mera on the wall......

OK, all seriousnes aside..... I mean, seriously....

I asked that question once and the answer I heard was..... It means a play on the word "AMERICANA" (Pronounced mare-uh)
This was a quote from Bob Bracey published in Autoweek November 24th, 1986.
Bracey was the brainchild of the MERA project.
Just to keep his answer in proper context.... he said this as he was being interviewed defending the fact that the MERA is in no way a replica look alike.
He goes on to say that a MERA is as much a knock off to a 308 as a Mazda RX7 is to a Porsche 944. He goes on to say that the MERA has no lines identical to any other car. It's an original style concept influenced by modern sport car trends. It's obvious that Bracey was aware of Ferrari SpA's litigious attitude towards knok-offs.

Hope this helps..... Rodney please jump in with any additions. I know you've met with Bob. I only spoke to him on the phone once and I undestand he passed away a few years ago. (rest in peace).
