According to my bathroom scale, they're about 35 lb each, including the rails.

Yep 35 lbs. I just took them out yesterday to put some cheap Autozone covers on them to protect the original skins.

Thanks, I'm thinking of ideas to replace my SEVENTY FIVE POUND BMW seats...

I always liked my Fiero seats with Mr Mike's leather.

Anyone know of any other nice aftermarket seats?

just wondering, is that the weight of the bmw seat or the seat and base/tracks? 'cause if you have to put the fiero seat on the bmw base and tracks, would you save much weight?.

I'm sure some weight will be added, but I will still save a lot.

Unless you are planning on stripping the entire interior/dash/carpet/passenger seat/console and probably more, there just isn't 500lbs to lose on these cars. I have looked into this for a long time aswell. I want to keep my GT as light as possible too. Unless this is going to be a track only car, you won't find 500lbs to lose. Probably the best places to shave weight are as follows.
The power windows converted to cranks.
Lightweight seats
Lightweight steering wheel
Lexan in the back window.
Light weight battery.
Lose the spare/jack (replace with corvette style pump/sealant)
Flush mount headlights.
Convert to non-sunroof panels
Lose the rear spoiler
Light weight wheels (probably 17" is the biggest you could go)
Street dreams drop spindles save some unsprung weight

All of this would save somewhere around 200lbs while still being useable as a street car and still haveing it look like a Fiero.
With this you could (mabey) get a GT close to 2500lbs. Which is still really light compared to most cars.

I've taken a lot of weight off the car already, but it's damn expensive!

Carbon fiber hood (11lbs) and trunk (9lbs) Cost me $1200.00, and I'm not sure how much that took off, but It's a LOT. (No Ricer)

My custom dual exhaust is almost done (11lbs compared to around 50lbs)

Then, I got rid of the AC, also a LOT!

Full sized spare tire is now a donut.

Took the tool kit out and just carry the basics.

Trunk Carpet on the cargo floor and the carpet that they put on the trunk lid is gone.

Looking to replace the stock 75lb seats with lightweights(I want no frills manual Fiero seats with Mr. Mike's leather.) That should be 70-80lb loss.

I'm at 2704lbs right now.

But you are right, there just isn't a lot of weight to take out of these cars without spending a lot of money.

LOL ^ He's talking about weight loss of a BMW including installing Fiero seats, but ^^ above is thinking Fiero GT weight loss. Friend of mine just bought a 740il, to replace a '92 3KGT VR4 and an '06 Lancer EVO... I think he's nuts, but he wanted it... Thing's huge to me.
