Well, i was searching on Getrag's site, and, I found a dual clutch automated manual transmission 7 speed. After looking around a while, this transmission seems like it would be great, if any of us could afford one to give it a try. I can't find a price anywhere for it. Anyone know how much this transmission would cost? it can hold 1017 ft/lbs of torque safely. So this trannie would be great for people who want a longitunial high power V8 in their car. I am actually considering getting a loan for one of these babys if I do something high power in my little Fiero
That is the page with the trannie. This trannie will engage 2 gears at once, and once a predetermined RPM is reached, it will disengage one clutch, and engage the other, to have costaint power. Pretty neat design, and it being a 7 speed, that would rule in a Fiero, hehe.

That transmission is similar to a DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox). While very stout, I imagine they are probably slightly heaver than a near-equivalent automatic. That said, if someone could make it work in a tap-shift setup, that would be schweet!
Edit: After a short google search, I found this: "http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/printer_317.shtml" It's an article about the V6-powered Audi TT. Comes with a 6 speed transverse DSG. Max torque is rated at 240lb, but I bet with time that'll change.

240tq, the getrag is rated at 1000+ thats a bit of a difference from the DSG. Its also 7speed and will shift faster than any GM auto. With this tranny, some serious axles, and the wides tires you can put on a Fiero along with a ZZP'ed 9 second 3800... can you says 8s.. but since they are doing 9s on 4T60s, that means you could push even more power through the getrag and still shift faster.... Are high 7s possible? 900hp 3800 with about 1100tq???

Does it need to be a 3800SC? Why not slap a longitudinal LS7 turbocharged back there? that is, if you have the money. I might do an LS1 or an LS6 if I get a loan, or win a mustang in this starburst "Text thru time" thing... cause I would so sell that mustang fast.
I havent found any pictures of the 7DCL750 yet, though I am pretty sure I know how it looks on the outside. It SHOULD fit into the fiero, with lots of engine bay mods

Lol then my $5,000 was WAYYYYYY off, thats probably what an oil change costs on one, providing it even runs on oil, its a bugatti, probably lubed by orphan tears or something.

the Getrag 7 speed wasnt used in the Veyron, it seems (after a little few minutes of research) VW used their own DSG style transmission, not Getrag's 7 speed. I am not sure at the moment, but it seems the DQ200 might be being used in the Veyron, just a beefed version of it. Or something similar, though in my research I havent found the 7DCL750 anywhere in the Veyron.
EDIT: I think from my research, I found that the Veyron is 4WD, the 7DCL750 is 2WD :P
MORE RESEARCH! The 7DCL750 is a transaxle, so there is a diff built into it, while the Veyron's is a Transmission, that doesnt have any diffs within it, so this transaxle may still be a viable alternative for people with high power engines in their Fieros and want a longitudinal engine
PICTURE: This is a Getrag 6 speed longitudinal transaxle, so my guess the 7DCL750 is gonna look very close to this:
