Is it possible to bake or use a heat gun to get the color out of clear plastic bits like taillights or turnsignals? I was going to try this with Fiero turn signals a while back but ended up just making lexan covers. I now have a friend who bought some spare taillights for his jeep and the idea came back up again.

anyone tried it? anyone have a dedicated oven and would clear a set of tails for a nominal fee?

I have a dedicated oven for powder coating but I've never hear that you could bake the color out of plastic. A Google search didn't turn anything up for me either... except to Photoshop it out.

The pigments are mixed when the plastic compound is produced and withstands the heat of the injection molding process. You can heat the plastic until the point where it melts and the pigments will still stay.

In-molded color will be there for life unless it is not UV resistant. Sorry man.
