Okay, so with all the kits made for the Fiero, how come I've never seen a McLaren rebody? Sure, it'd be a little more hard to make accurate (gas tank relocation, etc), but it'd be more unique...
Diablo and F355 kits are rampant, but both of those cars can be had for $75k if one looks hard enough. On top of that, a good replica, complete with engine is going to cost 35-50k. My point is, if you can save enough for the replica, you could eventually just save a little more and buy the real thing...
The McLaren, on the other hand, is a supercar that'll forever be out of reach from the masses. Me thinks a Fiero could be rebodied with significant work to replicate one, even using the BMW V12 mounted longitudinally...
So, you skilled craftsman should make one up for me...this weekend

There was one that was made. However appearently the builder had not made the sides 100% symetrical? If I remember correctly, haven't heard anything about it since. Looked pretty good though.

It was the car that used the MR2 Turbo motor, the 3S-GTE? They were going to offer a version that used a small block and porsche G60 but I never saw it produced. The blue car that has the MR2 motor is the only one I have every seen completed, it was at carlisle a while back. I beleive the company is based out of a caribbean island.

The kitcar in question that uses MR2 parts can also be ordered with an SBC...... Though they haven't updated the site in a long while, which makes me think something is brewing maybe? Also, they kept the windshield top-secret, and it looks almost exactly like the OEM Mclaren F1... Because of this the car MIGHT be able to be configured for the 3 seating positions, but as is the car has only 2 seats.....
Wait a minute. Are we talking about the F1 or the M6 GT? The M6 GT was the "original" McLaren. I think there were only a handful produced in the late '70s/early '80s (?). It's a 2 seater, mid engine, etc.
I'm thinking M1......If I were ever to start a coup to take over a country I would have to take over the small country of Brunei (The Sultan there has two of them) Or on a safer note I'll just take over NBC and offer Leno a trade. He can unretire in exchange for HIS F1.

can you believe that Rowan Atkinson (Mr.Bean) trashed one??

Years ago a company called Fiberfab made a car called the "Manta" which was I think modeled after the M6 GT McClaren. I`m not sure what the chassis base was though.
